Well the winds died down to 5k from the 50k it was blowing earlier today.

Dave and I headed out to the feild to maiden the F-100

I had the 6s in it and the new Sentinal 100a ESC installed in the thrust tube. Dave says it has 300w more than his current setup, so it shouldnt have a problem getting off the ground. Whell... all lined up and added the power. The rather small wheels handled the grass pretty good but it wasnt picking up any speed:shock: Then it starting crabing all over the runway so I killed the power near the end of the runway and as the waight came back on the nose, it tore the nose gear out. So what was the problem:confused: Turns out who ever built this plane(ok that was me) forgot to fully tighten one of the main gear struts and the wheel turned inward acting like a brake. Im not to upset cause it did reveal that the nose gear mounting area wasnt stong enough and for sure would have ripped out on landing. Plus i would have lost the main gear had it managed to get airborn. ++

So with the plane back on the stand what next. I suggested that we try the 7s just to see the numbers.(I only just installed the ESC and BEC this morning and didnt do any testing.) Here's what we found.

On 6s with the Turnagy 1800kv motor, 100a esc and the 5 bladed Lander Fan. I was getting 1750wp at 75amps

On the 7s thouse numbers jumped to 2364Wp at 94.73amps

I didnt have a scale with me, but I can tell you the increased amount of thrust comming out the back end was very noticable.

I think Im going to like this plane very much:D

LOL, I really should get that built. I just got the Air Sally FG inlet duct for it and my plan is to have it ready for the Ottawa EDF rally. Other planes have kept pushing it down the list.

There was video, LMAO.
Amazing numbers on that fan with the same Turnigy motor I'm using in the F-86. If it holds up on 7S that will be amazing and all on a $20.00 motor.

Trevor. What damage did you do to the NG? ie: srews ripped out of pywood mount, the whole plywood former and foam ripped away.

I just finished the rear end off an am starting the forward half. I'm going to beef up the NG installation with some CF and FG cloth. I also dismantled my FlyFly retracts and lubed up the srewjack with some teflon grease. People are stripping the brass connector and from what I could tell, there was only a slight oil film on the threads. Metal on metal will surely wreck the threads and this is what's happening. I've cycled them about 50 times with no probs.

All of the above Brian. Carbon fiber is a good idea but dont just replace it. Make the plate bigger to spread the forces out more. A good 1/2 inch or more all around should do it.

They havnt said No, but being a turbine guy myself... I wouldnt recomend it. The feild is in a rather bowlish shape surounded by trees and hilly farm feilds not clearly visable to the E and S. On the N is numerous newly built buildings and two tower crains. Even when the crains are gone, You will find it difficult to avoid flying over the parking areas out that way. Beleive me CY, Many of times i have continplated flying my Turbine there, But if you have a flame out, chances are slim you will make it down safely, and as Im sure your well aware of the fact that we fly turbines under a microscope. Nothing good could come from flying there. Its just not worth the rist for the rest of the Turbine guys. On another note...... The Keswic club is expanding their runway to 700' and they are turbine freindly:) and will also be welcoming giant Warbirds as soon as they can finish the runway.

I should Clearifie that the Aurora club is fine for most any type of flying. I just dont recomend flying Gas Turbines there.
