I am having issues with my Segad C1 gas boat melting and splitting exhaust couplers?? I have tried the stock ones from Venom (only lasts about 10 minutes) and some high temp silicone ones (they last about 1 tank of fuel. ) Has anyone had similar problems with gas boats?? Is there something else I can use to couple the header to the stock pipe with that is readily availible?? I don't think I am too lean because the plug colour is perfect, venom recomends 1 5/8 turns on the high end and I am running 2 1/4 for break in. The problem is that the two pipes butt up to one another and the coupler is exposed to the hot exhaust. I have a wet manifold and cooling ring on the header just before the coupler, but it still melts them. I have taken the header in to my buddies shop and he is going to weld me in a 1/16" tube in the bottom of the header ( pointing towards exhaust flo of course) so i can inject water into the exhaust and turn it into a true wet system...I know I will loose some performance from this, but I am a hobby boater, not a racer. I dont want to weld the two pipes together because I won't be able to change the high temp "o"rings if i need to. I know that most tuned pipes use the overlap system with the high temp "o"rings, but I would like to use the stock system...any help is appreciated....Thanks.

welcome to RCC just to let you know that you have the old
tuned pipe type system in your boat.
they do have a better one now.

P.S I would not run water thru your pipe you will lose power
it will change the power band in your pipe = loss of power
since the Venom Zen clone only as 2+HP.

I used to have the Segad and had the same problem
with the couplers JUNK.
I have instaled a proboat tuned pipe in mine
and wokerd well.

Hey LoCo... very nice pics... in the after pics I noticed the header pipe looks like the C1 stock?? Does the proboat tuned pipe work with the venom header, same diameter??...will it work well with the stock motor as well as the 4.5kw??? Is the tuned pipe the correct length to go through the stock hole in the transome or did you have to do mods..
thanks for the info.

hey bud mine did fit like a glove the proboat one.
all the same size and yes it will work with the stock motor.
you may even gain a few hp since the original pipe
is not a tune pipe more like a can pipe/muffler thing lol.
