HI
Traxxas makes a great truck and parts are easy to come buy and not very expensive.

Depends, need to answer 2 basic questions.
2wd or 4wd?
budget?
The Traxxas line is great, they're durable, easy to find parts for and most of them are waterproof.

here is a link to a top 10 list one of the mags did
BTW I started with the Traxxas Stampede 4X4 Brushless
I have been happy so far , did need to upgrade the charger but that was faster charging and using LiPo batteries

i have a crawler, 4x4 short course, monster truck...i use my slash 4x4 the most.
my crawler never really breaks,
my slash 4x4 takes a beating every time...get a shroud it will save you money.
i run 2s in mine...not as hard on drive shafts...$100 for a couple good ones...
my monster truck is hard on lipos...parts aren't bad but it breaks more often than my slash.
to conclude i have lots of fun with my slash...for the price of a revo b/l...u can get a slash, a charger and some batteries...or you can get a crawler and get into it for about the price of a slash.

My vote goes to the Rustler VXL. Great for bashing, and quite capable of hitting big speeds. (For cheap I might add) Also, everything breaks but fixing it if half the fun. My $0.02
