Hey guys, if you read the post "bummer.." you know I am busy right now, too busy to do much modeling. Well today was so awesome out (maybe 3 or 4 above, sunny, no wind) I had to quit early and go flying!
I grabbed my trusty Lazy Bee (about 5 years old) and went out for a few flights. I like to just putt around, every so often go up for some aeobatics (crazy bee!) and then back around doing s l o w passes only feet in front of me. It sounds dangerous but it really isnt. My Bee weighs less than a pound and a half, and flies at a snails pace at idle. Very very relaxing flying!
Anyway, during my second flight, I was setting up for a low pass, at idle, and about 20 feet up descending when all of a sudden the plane pitched down violently and went in! Ouch! I could see the tail up in the air and saw the rudder moving so I new my battery was OK. Upon getting to the plane, my elevator was pitched hard down and the servo buzzing. Seems the hS-80 servo went to the extreme and stuck there. I have had bad luck with those HS-80's, the newer HS-81's are much better as I have yet to have one fail.
To my amazement, the Lazy Bee (covered in Mica film) was absolutely unharmed, even the APC prop was fine. So I went home a happy guy, and had my two flights to boot! :D
It was exactly what I needed...
