I have a bisson muffler installed on my an 8 ft turbo beaver, first time I have used on of these types of mufflers.
I was told today to cut about an insch or so off the exuast pipes or the vibrations from the engine would cause stress cracks and fall off anyways. Can anybody shed some light on this for me :help:
I have it hanging of an OS.61 fx.

Give Jim Bisson a call and ask him......
he is very pleasant and approachable and takes great pride in his product.Im pretty sure he will tell you cutting the stack isnt necessary for vibration protection and I think he would warranty any stress crack problem as long as it wasnt caused by crashes,or a bad installation ie touching the fuse in any way,or bending any part of the muffler to make it fit.....etc
Bisson have been in business about 35 years and three generations now and there isnt much about mufflers they dont know.I have used dozens of their products since the late 60s and have never seen a weld fracture from normal use yet........

Bisson mufflers are GREAT! And Jim and his sons are also super to deal with.
Remember they also do custom work, and prices are in line or better than anything coming out of the USA.

Yeah BUY Canadian EH!
And don't forget they actually ARE mufflers, not just exhaust diverters like most of the Merkin' stuff are!
got one of the bigger models on my G-38, and it is a gem! It works too!!!!
