I got a megatech .46 that likes to run backwards more than it does forewards. When it does run right, it runs rough and just doesn't sound right at all. Any suggestions?

Sounds like its too rich to me, try tunning the carb, did you get instructions with the engine, usually, the instructions are pretty good at describing how to tunne an engine.
is it broken in yet?
What kind of fuel are you using?
What kind of plug?
What prop?
Your answers could help us make some suggestions...
I presume it is an non ringed engine.......

If you are hand starting and it wants to start backwards (many engines do) try flipping backwards, or bumping on compression clockwise. It will kick and start up the correct way.
Or, use an electric starter untill it breaks in and you get the needles set.
If it is running, but running rough, it could be a too cold, or bad plug, or set too rich, or moisture in the fuel.
Like Nony said, let us know what prop/plug/fuel combo you are using. Also make sure you have a good fresh fuel supply.

I got a new plug, new fuel, 10 * 6 prop. Its been electrically cranked. I tried the needle, but it just burped, spun back and quit. I changed the plug, and it didn't do anything. There was no idle bar on the plug either. When I got a new plane, there was a 46 with it and it, so I used that one instead. I didn't run the other one enough so it probably wasn't broken in.
