HOPE SOMEONE OUT THERE CAN HELP ME. I HAVE AN ORIGINAL (THIS IS NOT VERSION # 2) O.S. FT-120 GEMINI. THIS ENGINE IS THE FIRST TWIN CYLINDER THAT O.S. PUT ON THE MARKET APPROXIMATELY 20 YEARS AGO. IT WAS RUNNING REALLY WELL UNTIL THE CRANK SHAFT BROKE IN TWO AND DID MINOR DAMAGE TO ONE CONNECTING ROD. IF ANYONE HAS THIS ENGINE AND WOULD LIKE TO PART WITH IT OR HAS CRANK SHAFT PART # 46002005 AND CONNECTING RODS PART # 46005007, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY OTHER THOUGHTS OR IDEAS FOR THESE PARTS, AS I AM RUNNING OUT OF OPTIONS. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KEEP THIS ENGINE RUNNING FOR SENTIMENTAL REASONS AND IT'S A GREAT ENGINE-PLANE COMBINATION IN MY 1/4 SCALE CLIPPED WING J-3 CUB. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I AM NEW TO THIS COMPUTER BUSINESS.

THANKYOU (DESPERATE) PAUL

Hey Paul,

If you haven't yet, post a thread at R/C Universe and the other model web sites and see what you can come up with there? I do know a fella that has one of those engines. He also was looking for a crankshaft also and did acquire one through the internet.
All you can do is place some post's. What is different about the newer Gemini's? Can the crankshaft be modified?
I will ask him if he will sell and where it was he got the parts from? Best I can do for Ya. I don't see him often so it might be a bit before I can get back to you.

HI VERTICAL UNLIMITED. THANKYOU FOR YOUR RESPONSE. I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN THE ENGINE OR CRANK SHAFT THAT YOU KNOW ABOUT. THE SOONER THE BETTER FOR ME AS FLYING SEASON IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER. I WAS ALSO WONDERING WHY HE NEEDED A CRANK SHAFT. I AM LOOKING INTO YOUR IDEA OF GETTING THE NEWER CRANK SHAFT TO SEE IF IT IS FEASABLE TO MACHINE DOWN TO TAKE THE ORIGINAL 120 GEMINI. I DO KNOW THAT THE ORIGINAL 120 CRANK AND VERSION #2 CRANK ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE. BUT VERSION #2 CRANK IS INTERCHANGEABLE WITH THE FT - 160 GEMINI. IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE THE ORIGINAL VERSION CRANK SHAFT WAS UNDERDESIGNED. WHAT DO YOU THINK? THANKS AGAIN. BY THE WAY I AM LOCATED IN ONTARIO. HOW DO I GET ON THE R/C UNIVERSE WEB SITE. DO THEY HAVE AN ADDRESS. YOU MAY HAVE TO GIVE ME SOME INTERNET ADVICE AS I AM NEARLY COMPUTER ILLITERATE. HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON.
THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR IDEAS.
THANKYOU PAUL

Hi Paul,

You should be able to just type in www.rcuniverse.com and it should come up. (Try clicking your mouse on it right here?) The web site is very similar to this one and post a thread there. Sorry, I can't comment on the modification on the crankshaft with out comparing the two? Ask at RCU about a modified crank there, a lot of knowledge floating about and hopefully someone can help out?

What is the problem with your's? I'm not exactly sure why this fella needed one? Like you mentioned, poor design. I'll inquire when I see him?

Happy Fly'n....

Hey Paul,

I did some inquiring today and it sounds as if the engine meet the same fate as yours? He was searching for a crankshaft also, but managed to find a whole engine. It appears as the original Gemini's had a very poor crankshaft and support design. Sorry I can't help you out, but I will keep an eye out for parts/engine at swap meets and get a tel. number if I should come across something. I would still try posting a thread at RCU. Good Luck.

Happy Fly'n....
