Just a quick question on my new os32 sx engine. I was wondering how much fuel should i run through it before i put it in my heli to break it in. Keep in mind i have no experience hovering. only on a of couple hours on a SIM.

As long as you run it rich you should be able to break it in in the heli. You do not put much stress on the engine during the learning stage. That's what I did with my first heli. I would suggest you have an experienced flyer setup the mixture and trim the machine before you attempt to fly it.

If you still want to do a bench break in then 4 or 5 tanks should be enough.

I just test flew my first heli, a hawk sport about a week ago. It has an OS32 sxh engine in it. I literally took it out the box, put it in the heli, cranked the engine over for about 5 seconds, and started hovering. I have about 6 tanks through it now, and it has yet to hick-up. I am totally impressed with this engine. Its super reliable and easy to start. I just ran with stock needle settings on the low end, and a bit less than 1 3/4 turns out on the high end. it runs a bit rich, but it provides lots of lubrication. I run 15% cool power synthetic heli fuel. I didn't have any experienced pilot look my heli over previous to flying it, but that doesn't mean it isn;t a good idea. I just don't have any experienced heli flyers around to help out. I just went over the heli with a fine tooth comb 3 or 4 times, checking everything. So far so good. No crashes and I am in forward flight and nose in hover without training gear. I have however had lots, and i mean lots of flight sim time. Probably close to 30 hours over the winter.
