A Follow up to about the Idea Bob and I had with some of you at Flyingtigers yesturday about 6 of us so far going north:)

I been pming with Jan Bloom, Jan is going to get ahold of his President of the club about us.

This is part of the last PM Jan sent me, I did delted the part about something about a golfer with a shutgun looking for me though:)

it's starting to look like the Great Northern Ontario IMAC Challenge will be held at the Cambrian R/C Club in Azilda (Sudbury)

The date has yet to finalized -as well as get the Cambrian Club into contest mode.
The Cambrian field is about the best for the first event - it is in the middle of the Zone, easily accessable to all

that's not to say that you shouldn't plan on going to the Bay's fun fly - I am

I just wanted to keep the interest up, so to speak, and thought a little " recon mission" to North Bay in a couple of weeks might not be a bad idea.

( has to be in 2 weeks for me anyway, because I'm away next week to the Regional finals in Illinios)

So, anyway, I was sort of planning this trip ( with Randy) for the last couple of weeks.

We asked the guys at the stoney fun fly this weekend and seems about 4 more guys are interested in doing the trip.

We will have a few flights, maybe fly a few sequences and have a fun couple of days in North Bay, while we see the fall colors !!

Jan is on board for the visit, and hopefully Andrew can make the trip too

If anyone else wants to go along it should be even more fun !!

It's not "an event" Curtis, just simply a visit for the weekend.

Some guys might leave Friday morning or Friday afternoon, a few more will go up to North Bay early Saturday morning. It we get away from Toronto by 7am we should be in North Bay before noon. ( just in time for the warmest part of the day)

We'll have a social visit and a few flights each in the afternoon. Go for a bite Saturday night and "shoot tyhe bull"

Hopefully we can fly a couple of flights ( and sequences each).

Stay overnight ( motel) and do the same thing Sunday.

Leave Sunday by mid afternoon and be home by supper or before dark.

I just got an early X-mas gift from mom, its a 2-burner propane stove, so bring your coffee mugs I will bring all the fixin's to make coffee tea and hot choc. Could easily fry up some dogs, cook beans etc.
I was thinking about in the evening for a pow-wow would be cool, does Comfort-Inn have a hospitality room? Could do some stick flying, also I got both Extreme flight championship DVD's last week!

AT this time of year things can go either way. I remember one October wknd when a record was set it reached 27C. Some times the forecast is all grey and it does indeed rain and other times it sprinkles twice for 10 minutes and the rest of the day is flyable! If you guys do decide to come it might be wise to bring some plastic drop sheet incase it does rain(to cover your plane) and warm gloves, mostly to keep your hands warm between flites so you dont get that deep chill especially in the morning.

the weather forcast looks good for Saturday ( at least) with 21*C and ZERO POP ( possibility of precip)

I "could" get away Friday noon if need be, or even, if we leave first thing Saturday morning we could be in NB by 11 or 12. and still be home again by 10 or 11pm

Yeah sorry Bob would like to have gone but my wife came home last night from work to a defrosted chest freezer! :yikes:

What a mess! Not sure if this was due to the blackout a couple of weeks ago but the stuff at the top of the freezer was ok as of last Friday but I have been away at a trade show so she had not gone into the freezer until last night and she went to pull some chicken out and it was thawed. Long story short we lost about $1500.00 worth of food and now I gota spend $500.00 for a new freezer. It was bought in 86 and I got ait a good price + no taxes, bought it in Alberta and drove it home in the back of a cubevan, so it doesn't really owe us anything and I wouldn't trust it if it was fixed so there goes that new DA50! :( :( :(

Oh well, I look forward to next season!
