Where to install temp sensor

I would like to install an onboard temp sensor in my JR VENTURE with an OS32. Where is the best place to install the wire on the engine......near the crankcase or close to the head?

On the head..but I don't use them personally.

From what I was told (and read), the sensor is suppose to go on the block across from the exhaust port. That's where I have mine, and it seems to work fine.
