We had our Fun Fly last Sat (June 05) & it was a huge success. Bright blue sky, moderate winds & pleasant temps. There were 20 registered pilots & 50 different models flown. Not too many smoking holes either, although the actual crash events themselves were quite "hearty" -- no gentle dust-ups.

The most fun was a bombing event, wherein a "bomb" had to be dropped between two lines across the runway. The bomb was a plastic ring sitting on a post, which was then fixed to the upper surface of the aircraft by elastic bands. Depending upon the bomb assembly location, there could be some pretty big trim changes introduced to the planes. There were also some pretty wild variations in dropping technique. A simple roll to inverted was less accurate than a quick "bunt" (pop-up & dive). In several cases the bombs were stuck on the spike & the antics displayed in release attempts were commical.

I took six ships & fortunately all six came home intact -- I even managed to tie for first in the bomb-drop -- a great fun-fly.

Our next fun fly event is a float fly series (goes on all summer -- every Thurs evening)
