I am building a double size corostang that hase a wing span of 80 inches and the fuse is 60 inches. what size of gas motor will get this bird in the air. I have what I think is about a 22 cc. wacker engine but it doesnt seem to realy have a lot of power . And also is there a spad way of making realy inexpensive retactable main gear. like maybe ruberband power or something.
Am I going to need heavy duty servos to run everything or will the regular ones work. All the control surfaces are double 4 mm thick.
Has anyone made a big corostang.

All depends on the weight when is finished. :?

I find that any "weed wacker" engine under 25cc does not have enough "oomph" to fly, with reliability and efficientcy, any plane that size....

I am thinking it will be about 5 t0 8 lbs. There will be about 1 1/2 sheets of 4 mill coro and a bit of wood plus radio tank and motor and landing gear.

I also made a double sized spadstang. It started out as just a display but the guys here think we should try to fly it. It has an 84" wing span and weighs 10 lbs without a motor or electronics. We are looking at a 31 cc Ryobi weedwacker motor which has quite an uummph. The setup will likely weigh about 16 to 17 lbs because the motor weighs 4.6 lbs. I can send some pictures as far as I have got if you wish.
