I have been wanting to mount an onboard video camera on my IMAC planes for a long time.

I am thinking that I would like to be able to transmitt to the ground ( so you can monitor what you're viewing) and record the video.

Haven't found a DECENT quality system yet.

Would like to have a neat little camera, about the size of a pen ( or so) that could be installed into the vertical stab ( hey, just drill a nice little 3/8" or 1/2" dia tube into the foam) so it would view forward, just over the top of the canopy, on our aerobatic mounts (Edge 540s, Extra 330s, etc).

Has anyone seen or found one?

I am MOST interested and want to get this set up for next summer

Onboard video camera recorders would also be an option. Is there a GOOD one anyone has expreience with?

On RCGroups the Nikon 3700 seems to be popular. Any comments?

Hi Bob,

You will probably never find a video downlink that will maintain the picture quality. If you stay with one of these systems you will have to accept so-so video.
The camera's used in this application are also low grade.

How about sticking the whole camera in the plane?????

Guess I was wrong.

I hooked up my Digital still camera to my video downlink last night and the images looked pretty good. (including the OSD )

This in comparison to the camera included with the system which was really low quality.

Looks promising, Ron. Now if I hadn't blown the wad at the club auction last night...... Maybe if I save my pennies for a while....

I'm going to try and get some specs on that stuff.

I hope you keep us informed of your progress, this is interesting stuff.
I rally like Bob's idea of a camera in the fin of an IMAC plane!

The product from this site appears to be a hit on another RC Forum
