The specs on that plane look great, but
i just cannot seem to like the U can do airframe!! I hope someone in the club gets one though, I think it will be a nice flying airplane.

The problem I have with this plane is that it has that girlie man pink color. If it was a hot pink, that may have been better but this pink is too soft. It has flaps also which will allow crow. I don't think it really needs it because the U-CAN-DO 46 and 60 size will float over the field already. I think Great Planes just needed to do something different here. I do like the 2 piece wing now on this one.
The plane cost $350 USD also which is a big jump from the $170 USD for the 60 size.
26cc glow or a 32.5-43cc gasser could be used according to towerhobbies website. I would throw a DA 50 on there.
It's due out in early May.

At the price and size why would you even want that? At this range you would be into edges, extras, yaks, katanas ect. The u-can-do seems like a decent 3d beginner plane but not very precise. Or maybe its just the guys at my field but I would broaden my search if I were you

hillmanr2, I personally don't like u can do planes. I was just wondering if anyone planned to get one. I have a Funtana S 90 that I like much better than the U Can Do.

Yup the pink is a little much but I have at least 300 flights on my 60 size and when it goes away garbage day 3 I'll be ordering the Giant U-Can-Do. They are great planes and float along so slow you might develop bad habits.
Go for it!

hay biglen welcome to rcc.
I think that this would make a good contender for a electric conversion because it has a big wingarea and it still very light. I dont know if it could match the funtana and the new showtime though.

Hi all, just unpacked my giant ucan du the other day, every thing looks real good but I noticed the fusilage has two broken cross supports midway in the fusilage. Its packed really well but the fus is on its side on the bottom with acardboard divider on top and then all the other stuff is on top off it. My quess would be that during shipping with all that other stuff bouncing up and down on top of the fus that it could'nt handle the weight and simply broke the little cross supports. Not sure if I'll just assemble it like that or try to replace those little cross supports. It will be very difficult to get in there to re glue a support and I'm sure not going to take off the covering to do it. We'll see. Anyhow I have a 60 size ucan du with a Saito 100 and I really like it so I thought I'd try the giant. I'm going with a OS 1.60 and am going to use a perry pump to avoid the fuel siphoning problems some are having with it. By the way, I think the pink looks great. Ken

You can always call Great Planes and tell them about the damage to the fuse or you can just press the wood back into place and add a couple of drops of thin CA and you done! I'd put a g26 on it if it were mine!

I think I'll try to rig up some extra long flat ended chop sticks to place new supports in the fus. This will no doubt test my patience and build new modeling skills that perhaps I'm lacking. What a challenge, maybe it will even be fun. (not) Ken

since you posted in the 3d thread I assume thats what you want to do. I would reconsider your engine choice for 3d. maybe moki 2.1 or the Saito 2.2 for glow. MVVS 45 with the magnesium crankcase for gas (it's lighter than the MOKI 2.1).

Hi YNC, could you tell me what channels you use for the flaps? I have a futaba 8U super and I can't fiqure out how to use the flaps with the ailerones and also use them as flaps alone. If theres anyone else out there with a giant ucan du I sure would be thankfull if you could tell me which channels you used so that you can use the flaps with the ailerones and also use them as flaps. thanks. I have no flaps. I joint them up as one aileron and use 2 servos on it. I like it much better this way.
