I think you should go and get your self a flight sim for starters. It should help you with holding the tail, right side left side and nose in hovering. It will also help you with orientation of the heli when you start some forward flight.

I learned basic hovering on my own with the help of radds school of rotary flight. http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.html

Once I went through a couple sets of blades I realized that forward flight would most likely end in disaster and that a flight sim would be a must! If your like me and dont have a newer computer you could probably find a used copy of realflight G2 or G2 lite for less than $100. Or you could check out the system requirements of the new flight sims and go with one of these.

I'm no pro and dont claim to have the know how to teach anyone how to fly a heli but I hope this will help you out and keep those repair bills down.
I dont think you want to just go at it right away without some sim time but Radds will definately help you out and get you hovering. As for setting up the heli......................well.................... ..hopefully someone else will give you some advice on that.

And you should be able to get training gear from the same place you bought your heli or look on the web. Please dont try to fly it without training gear!!!

Best of luck my friend. Let us know how you make out.

I think that they fly there anytime it is a club you need to be a member.
you can fly as a guest a couple of times.

I learnt how to hover by "trying it slow" with training gear myself. Although I should have been smarter and bought a sim. For the price of a couple of crashes that I had, I could have bought a sim and practiced heli movements (which are difficult for the newb). I found that after crashing several times, I did end up buying a sim, and my learning curve shot straight up!! Do yourself a favor and get a sim. If you cannot afford one of the "fancy" ones, there are a couple of free ones floating around on the web, but if price is an issue I would check clearview sim. I think it is reasonably priced.

Good luck.

BTW, I know the price of sims seems really high, I though so when purchasing mine, and it hurt to spend that much, but after many years, and a few heli's later I still have the copy of G2 that I use once in a while for trying new things, so it's money well spent.
