What better land use than long-term dead people storage? At least with married folk they stack them up and save some space...

Seriously though, what the hell are we thinking? In 1000 years time, nobody will remember who we were. They will, however, wonder why our rotten corpses are occupying arable land while they are (potentially) starving.

You could fly model aircraft from a toxic waste dump. ;)

Hi,

I have some bad news.

The Rustenburg Municipality has started to destroy our runways.
You can go to www.rustenburgsport.co.za to view the photos that I have taken of this total disrecard of the Munucipality for a sport club.
Send this web address to as many people as you can so that everyone can see how we are treated by the Rustenburg Municipality.

We will not be able to fly at the club anymore.

This is their way of telling us that they do not want anything to do with us anymore.

After 3 years, since 25 June 2005, of fighting with them it has eventualy come to this.

However there is some hope, I have been in negotiations for the past month with another party and so far it looks like they will accomodate us.
I am hoping to have some possitive news about this within the next few days.
This will also mean that we will be moving away from the municipality and that we will have nothing to do with the municipality anymore.
We will also not be part of the Rustenburg Area Sport Council anymore.
No more monthly payments to the Rustenburg Area Sport Council anymore.

Sorry that I could not do more.
I think if we all start playing soccer we will be able to get everything we need from the municipality.

However I will do everything in my power to ensure that we will have a club soon.

When one door closes, another usually opens; you just have to try turning all the knobs.

My club lost its right to fly at a local airport (It had been there for over thirty years) due to concerns of the airport's insurance company. We were able to obtain permission to fly from a piece of privately owned land, at no cost. It was sold, and the new owner is permitting the same courtesy to prevail. We have been able to erect safety barriers, place a lockup shed on site, and have parked a trailer there. We could do none of this at the airport, as there could be no fixed obstructions anywhere near the runways. In the long run, we are better off.

Don't lose hope, or your perspective. Carry on, and good luck for the future.

While I would hate to see this happen (and it will) to my local club and would be very upset by it, at least the municipality offered another piece of land. Here in Quebec, we are pretty much @#(*(% over by the fact that C.P.T.A.Q. will not permit us to fly off farmland so that pretty much rules out any decent flat properties to rebuild on.

Our club is owned by a land developer and it is only a matter of time before the land gets turned into yet another suburbia expansion on the island of Montreal. And I have serious doubts we will ever find a suitable replacement.

We are also losing another field in Brossard, Quebec in September, and I do not believe they have any options at present either.

Municipalities and government won't be happy until we need to resort to flying our potentially lethal planes over buildings and homes.

Hi,

Just to let you know.

They have ripped up the last of our runways on Tuesday. No more runways.
They have started taking down our "afdak" and other stuff at the club.

There is now nowhere to fly.
However the club still exists.

As much as I feel for these guys loosing their field to local govenment and poor politics - Somehow I just don't seem to feel the need to get too wound up over the events happening in South Africa.

Good Luck in finding a new site that will not be the target of the local politicians!

Just to keep you updated.

All our stuff has been removed from the Club.
I have all the small stuff with me and all the big stuff is at Barry.
Barry has borrowed me his truck to move the stuff. Thanks Barry.

The only stuff still at the Club is our Container, the Guard House, our Electricity and the car Stand.
This will will have to rmoved at a later stage.

I am still in negotiations for new Club Facilities.
If we get what I have asked for then we will have the best facilities in the country.
Please just be patient.

Some members has asked me if they can fly at Olimpia Park, Rugby Fields and the old Kloof Road.
I can not say no because there is no flying field at this stage.
I also can not say yes. You are not covered by SAMAA as well as the Club if an accident happens.
You fly at your own risk.

Hi,

I have just received very good news.

Our new Club facility has been approved.

I am just waiting for the documents to sign and then it is 100% official.

Club members will then be given 1 week to submit suggestions on how to develop the new facilities.

Hope you are as happy as I am.

See you Saturday.

See you Saturday.I've got my doubts that anyone on this site will be seeing you Saturday, seeing as we're all in Canada. Next time you're in the country drop by for a beer :D
