Was wondering if anyone had a set of plans for a set of floats for something in the 40 to 60 size?
A set of plans for the Goldburg J3 Cub floats would be great!
Would like to buy or trade for plans OR even borrow a set to copy, if thats possible??
Thanks my friends.

Gary,
Do you have a CAD program that can read .dxf files or a print/copy shop close by that can read .dxf files and have them printed out for you?
I have a float plan here on my pc that is in .dxf format if you want it.
Look very similar to the Carl Goldberg 40 sized floats.

Derrick, I got your PM and have responded via a return PM.
Thank you so much for your generosity my friend and for taking the time to do this for me. RCCanada has the greatest bunch of guys on any site and your certainly one of the good guys! Thanks again Derrick!
PLEASE PM me your mailing address also!
I am planning on using my foam cutter to cut out a set of foam cores and sheet them with balsa. I will then add the support pieces, cover them with Supershrink covering and paint them.
When I get the cutting perfected, I will cut you a set of foam cores and you can easily complete a set of floats for yourself.
As I said in my last PM to you, I'll get you to send me your mailing address one way or another....lol....;)

Sounds like a plan Gary.
Thank you too!

When cutting foam cores for floats, do you have to cut them in two halves down the vertical centre line? Are they V shaped with cambered sides?
I got as far as cutting out formers for floats years ago but now they are buried in a box somewhere.

Hmm, I really don't know Tom. This is a whole new project for me. I aquired the foam cutter from an IMAC buddy but have yet to set it up and use it. So its going to be a learning process all around....building floats and using the foam cutter or visa versa, whatever! lol. I guess I will figure things out as I go!

I know when cutting wings, you need a template for each end with stations marked every inch. Then with a buddy, you move the bow from station to station.
I thought about cutting floats from foam and thought about it quite a bit. If you had 2 templates, one for centreline and one for the outer edge, you could have quite a curve shape. If you had a float that worked well, you could generate templates with a pencil and a verticle surface.
Let us know how you make out.

I'm sure many others will appreciate this info as well.
