Re: Halifax slope soaring event 2016 edition Unfortunately This weekend's Slopefest had to be postponed due to rain and fog. After weeks of great weather the gods showered us with rain all day Saturday. Sunday was overcast with thick fog. Six of us braved the hill but models kept diasppearing into fog. I lost my 2m Mayfly Res in thick fog, but managed to re-sight it at about 20 ft and landed it safely. Event was re-scheduled for August 26th 2017 Again the weather has us beat. With offshore winds all weekend Sloping is not possible, Will try for weekend of 16 September. Will update as needed. |

Re: Halifax slope soaring event 2016 edition The 5th Annual 2017 Lawrencetown Slopefest is being held at Lawrencetown Beach, about 16 km east of Halifax on Saturday August 19th with flying continuing on Sunday for those who make it through Saturday night's barbecue and festivities.. All are welcome to this Fun Fly Soaring festival. Halifax slope soaring event 2016 edition Hi guys, Just got back from the east coast. Went to visit some friends and go to the Lawrencetown Slopefest. First thing, The slope is beautiful, and I mean beautiful! Second, the entire event is put on by Vic and Mary, who should be applauded for their efforts. An outstanding event that more people should plan on attending in the future. All manner of airplanes were present, scale, foamies, built up trainers, some expensive carbon airplanes, just about everything you could imagine. I flew two of the three airplanes that I took with me. All in all, it was a great event. I will go back again, it was worth the 14 hour drive! Blake |
