take the yellow tape off, then you will see that it's just 3 cells in series. nothing special..

Re: Bad cell on lipo...toss or other uses??

So I opened up the pack yesterday and now I don't know what to do next lol.

There is 2 blocks sitting on top of the cells which have the solder points attached to them. Have no idea what it's made out of but it's definitely not a metal making a circuit. One is laying on its side on the ground end, and the other laying down.

This next pic shows where the wires go, white wire goes underneath the area the ground is around and is the 1st cell. Blue is the middle cell and red is the last cell in the series.

So would it just be a matter of desoldering both red wires. Removing that cell (what is involved in that??). Then soldering the red main lead to the same spot the blue wire is. Then remove the pins on the balance tab, discard the red, and put the pins back into a 2 cell tab.

I agree with you get what you pay for.

I don't know if I could fathom spending the money on these packs either

But as a 2nd options, I will buy pulse, and then gen's ace from rotorquest

Part of the issue is when someone dominates the top end of a category in the market in forms of quality/options etc, they can charge WHATEVER they want and think someone would still pay. Like TP, Kontroniks, Scorpion etc etc

Which in turn makes them HUGELY overpriced and us suckers will pay for the best sometimes

Re: Bad cell on lipo...toss or other uses??

I have only bought the nano's 45c and 65c, and this is the 1st pack I've ever had an issue with. I have seen plenty of zippy and rhino swollen packs so I've never used them for this reason.

For the price of the nano's compared to other brands not from HK. If in 3 years using them with many many flights on them that I have to replace 1 pack, then that's fine with me

As a matter of fact, I use HobbyKing LiFe's for my 1/4scale and 1/3 scale planes, I use them to power up the powerbox as well as the ignition. Can't beat them for the price performance. I'm actually doing to dump all my NiCad's and NiMh's in favor of LifePo4's, they are amazing.

I pretty much have HK life's in all my planes for Rx power or ignition power. 3D stuff I still use true A123 cells but that's it.
