Re: Switch over to Hitec The clubs that I'll be at still use a ch board as well as a 2.4 board. But the signals at our level are getting more and more use with factories, oil, security and all the rest going radio, even race cars are using radio for shutdown and safety, which is good ,it saves lives. and DOC.or who ever is in control is doing an amazing job for us as we are only hobby people and are not high on the list. I bet my thoughts are going to get me in trouble again, so have your fun I'm not running for power. A good day to all. |

Re: Switch over to Hitec Nothing wrong with flying on 72 mhz. Still works and is still legal. And with so many pilots on 2.4 GHz there are very few left for you to conflict with. BUT, frequency control has all but been forgotten at some clubs so YOU will have to make sure you are not going to clash with someone else who is also staying on 72 MHz. I still have planes on channel 40 and channel 35 that I fly on 72 MHz. |

Re: Switch over to Hitec Eye Can Fly @ Richley. Years ago when I built a plane I put a Hitec receiver and servos in and ran it with an Aerotronics radio, as Hitec made a receiver which could run off a negative or positive transmitter signal. so my ignorance then will pay off now as long as I stick to channels and not go 2.4. So I am just as dumb as ever, but if it works, good. If it does not I only loose one plane from the pile on the floor, and will up date to 2.4 . |

Lazy Ace |
Re: Switch over to Hitec Quote:
I have the 76 inch Lazy Ace originally meant to be powered with a Supertiger .65 but I have a YS 1.20 in mine. I cannot count the number of members that have had their first introductory flight on that combination. Many have done their first loops and rolls on the first flight. I also tow up gliders, have dropped candy and a skydiver from the model. I have even spread a fellow modelers ashes at the request of the family from that model as well as used it as a float plane. I have had it for well over 15 years and purchased it with the Supertiger .65 in it. I repowered it because I wanted the extra power on hand when I needed it. The YS 1.20 is first generation and has been rebuilt a few times. A few others in the club have powered theirs with small gas motors and the G28 matches mine in flight pretty well. I believe the 62 inch one can be built with a symmetrical airfoil and 4 ailerons which would make it more aerobatic. But then it’s not the same Lazy Ace. |

Re: Switch over to Hitec I now have 3 Hitec computer radios, Two on channels and one on 2.4. I think I like those with the plane name over the number system, altho it's not hard to put a matching number on a plane! I think I'm building my last plane. It is a Sig Hog biplane saw it fly back in1997 and it made a bad pilot look good and now I need all the cheating help I can get to stay in the hobby as age has a way of telling you to stop. I quit racing boats in the late 80,s as I was loosing coordination and did not wish to smash up my friends boats. So I know what lies ahead. |

Re: Switch over to Hitec Many years ago not only did Airtronics have their own servo plug but so did Futaba, Kraft , Proline, MRC and many others. The idea was to sell their own products but due to pressure from the consumer over the years servo plugs became standardised and the only one left is Futaba with a lug on one side that must be removed in order to be used with the standardised JR plug. The next step was adapter cables and now replacement pins are and plugs are readily available and have been for some time for the do-it-yourselfer. |

Re: Switch over to Hitec Tommy, How is your conversation going? Hitec makes good stuff so swapping out receivers should be a fairly simple process UNLESS your planes are wired for old Airtronics. The plugs are different and the wire sequence is different. You would need to put new ends on our servos and battery or use adapter cables. So, how is it going? |

Re: Switch over to Hitec I have to say I have been covered by HK on more than one occasion without returns etc., just refund or replacement on gear. I also have to say I received a new Futaba 9C with no rudder. Had to send it in. Brand new and I got to spend $30 to send it in. Had a Hitec Aurora trim button go and got to send it in(still a fan). Years ago had a Hitec receiver packaged with incorrect single conversion crystal. They all can have a problem and of course if you buy $10 transmitters you get junk. |
