Another great step-by-step tutorial and the in-flight shot make for a job well done! This conversion is a keeper for me since I’ll be assembling my own Hobbico 60 with an OS 55, as a second trainer. My 40 size had its maiden last year, tuned and trimmed over several flights by an instructor and ready for spring training.

Thanks for sharing…

My pleasure - glad I could help.

Thanks Dave - looks a little different than when it flew at PERCFC in 2011!

John, I have not heard anything good/bad about the RCGF15. I did have their 26. Was good, but I have seen unknown brand 17cc, and other 15cc's that might work best in a tackle box.
My opinion only, but gassers 20cc, is the bottom limit of the scale. Only because the DLE20 has proven it to me.
If your have a DLE20, you know how nice they are. And the more they run, the better they serve. Your idea of the 30, & 20 makes good sence.

Thanks for the kind words, folks. Dale, I have been hearing good things about the RCGF 15...

That said, if I came across the right deal on a DLE 30, I'd drop that in my Pulse 125 and move its DLE 20 into the Hobbistar.

Nicely detailed thread John. Looks great with the ski's flying over the snow.

It flew very well. However, I had forgotten how slimy glow engines can make a perfectly good airplane. I'll have my eye out for a little gasser in the future.
Good job John. I convert everything, even my buddy's aitframes with a training wheel (ha-ha)
As you said in one of your post, just looks right.

A DLE20 would enjoy a year or two pulling that around. I wouldn't try anything else in small gassers. I sure enjoy mine, and others locally.
