I agree. This was never about MAAC or MAAC rules. MAAC rules applies to Canadians flying under the auspices of MAAC sanctioned clubs. What people do on their private property OR another country has NOTHING to do with MAAC. Leave MAAC out of this.

Ok, I bit my tongue long enough, all the people who said this is bad are just whiners. You can not honestly say you have never done anything stupid in you life. If you can then you have not lived and its your loss. I don`t want to rant or make enemies, but that is funny stuff. If that is what MAAC is like and from I what I have read in these posts I will never join. I do agree with "safety first", but at what cost? Seriously, it was in a gravel pit no public around and some extra black powder to get rid of. In the mean time I will just sit in my corner and enjoy life and shut my big yap.

While I understand the points made by those who thought the video was 'an affront to the hobby', etc., I almost peed myself laughing. Flying along and BOOM!!! My guess is that after the video, someone fessed up and they chipped in for another cheap foamie for the poor guy who thought his LiPo had gone blooie!

Now that right there made me laugh too. Take a bunch of explosives and a 30 year old man turns into a 5 year old kid in T minus 2 seconds

Ah, not really. Those crazy Americans love blowing ---- up for fun too. Seen it with my own eyes, same size firework (cherry bomb) shoved into a T-28 Trojan foamy. Five second fuse. One guy lit it, the other guy immediatly took off across the wide runway and climbed straight up. Blew up at about 100' altitude, 200' away. Awesome sight.

Here's another one from a couple of years ago. Not a plane, but at a plane event. I took the video. And I still chuckle when I watch it.

There are far more things to worry about in this world than some guys having some fun blowing stuff up.

If you all want to worry about safety, then look no further than your own clubs. Stop taxiing into the pits. Stop running your giant scale airplanes up while the prop is pointing at people. Stop running your 50 size helicopters in your front yards. THOSE are the things that are ACTUALLY dangerous and nobody says boo about it.

Leave these clowns alone!

/end rant.
Well said!

With the ever increasing size, speed, weight and wild abandon with which models are flown at our fields today, the REAL danger is not being recognized!

And to open up a can of worms, are any clubs out there addressing the " flying under the influence" issue?

We have all seen it...
