Re: Venom lipo

Venom are great for customer service.
I have had quite a few batteries over the years swell up. Always been reserved at using them but in weakness (just need to go flying) have used them and never had a problem!

Yeah, leaking is not correct. But swollen is not always bad - take your chances but i don't worry about them. Pretty batteries fail more often then they should also.

Re: Venom lipo

If it is leaking that sweet smelling fluid then a cell has been unsealed and you should safely dispose of it asap. (ie. risk of fire)

I've heard first hand of Venom having great customer service. I would suggest contacting them with your story and see what happens. Worth a shot. The last guy I heard that had a problem called them, they said to send a pic with the battery in a bucket of salt water - which he did - and they sent him a brand new replacement.

Good luck.

I'm going to give it a try, I can't return it as I don't have a receipt. I have a 3 cell 1100mAh pack that a co-worker ran stone dead twice and it is still performing well after 3 years.

I run them fully charged all the time too and never had that problem. I've had them slowly expand when they get old and lots of use. I still use them and maybe over a period of a yr,(mind you, this might be a 5 or 6 yr.old batt)they get disposed of when they get too fat and lose capacity, high resistance, short motor runs.

I have always stored my Lipos fully charged and have never had one do this in 8 years. I have had them puff up by running the voltage too low but NEVER at full charge no load!

I assumed being new, off the hobby shop shelf that it would be at storage voltage and didn't check it.

Usually they puff like that if stored fully charged.

Venom lipo

I have a brand new never used Venom 6 cell 2500mAh lipo battery that is puffed up. I gave one of my batteries to a young fellow along with a motor and speed controller with the understanding that if it suited his plane - just replace them for me next chance you get. This is the replacement he bought.

It was fine when he gave it to me so I just put it away. I took it out today and this is what it looks like 2 months later! So I'm thinking that it went dead - no, it had over 23 volts and took 1500mAh to top it up so it was not dead.

Are these things junk?
