Re: Post the tools & equipment you lug to the air field

Being gone from the hobby for many years and just ramping things up again, i have a limited arsenal, and often go to the field with just plane/heli, Tx, and charged batt's.

If i have a problem or chew thru batteries, I go home....

Cant wait to end up with a full-on trailer and toyz! Then maybe i could have fit ScaleGuy's Edge into it. (unfortunately, i am not there yet...but joined IMAC this week)

I take the pelican case and contents for expected hard days, with longer play times available. (but even then, some of the items I bring are for shop repairs and not field repairs)

Lets see where this off season goes.

Re: Post the tools & equipment you lug to the air field

Hi, I'm new to the rc airplane hobby as of this Sept. I carry a small toll box with tape, a assortment of screwdrivers, my batteries, pliers, elastics and cable ties. My first plane is a Hobbyzone supercub.

Well, simple, spare props for my quad. Hand tools to actually change the props. Lot of batteries and my FPV stuff, antenna, RX/TX, battery, tv monitor and cables.

WOW, some of you carry a lot of stuff. For me, beside a couple of heli, and planes, all I need is a smile, the radio, batteries and charger. Do all my checking before I leave, so I don't need to carry screwdriver etc. and if I really need, there is always somebody at the club that I can borrow for a few minutes.

I bring:

- a 1000watt generator so that I can have 50 flights a day.
- a heat gun to keep my covering looking good
- a covering iron for the same reason
- a box of tools for repairs
- spare covering
- an airplane tarp and pegs in case it rains
- spare props
- a sun tent to shade the plane
- battery charger
- fuel can, electric pump and battery

Re: Post the tools & equipment you lug to the air field

When I first got back into RC flying I was flying nitro and would bring everything but the kitchen sink. I like using fishing tackle boxes to pack the gear and have been resorting to using bigger boxes so that I don't have a bunch of small ones.
However, since getting bitten by the foamy bug my nitro planes are gathering dust as those foamies are so much fun and easy to build/maintain/repair. When I go out 'just to fly', I literally only bring the plane, radio, batt charger and batts plus a few props and prop saver o rings.

I like to do RC stuff when I go camping in the summer and then it's on - I bring EVERYTHING! - I even have an inverter for my glue gun and soldering iron. I bring sheets of foam, cases of building materials, cases of tools, my cutting matt - pretty much pack up my whole workshop and bring it with me.
