I see James is now banned from OP. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=7533

Will be interesting to see how things go with the main dev gone and them sitting on a pile of cash from all the preorders.

Lee, getting any multirotor flying stable requires plenty of effort (unless it is in the exact same configuration, all-up-weight, with same power system and you can juse the same PIDs). Just because you saw a KK2 model flying requiring lots of input is no indication of the board's capabilities. That is true pretty much for all flight controllers. There certainly are lower performance boards and firmwares, but the KK2 is a solid performer (as are many of the modern FCs - but not without effort and time).

The KK2 is easier to use and configure because of the onboard LCD screen and simplified user interface. Many other flight controllers require that you use a computer to modify a setting. Considering the many hundreds of adjustment cycles typical to "trim" out a multicopter, the KK2's interface is a major convenience that really shortens the process.

With my Naze32 and CC3Ds, I have a laptop and bluetooth or APC220 or 3DR radio interfaces which speed up the land, modify setting, fly to test cycles (no model retrieval and USB cable to deal with). With the bluetooth connection, can use an android-based cellphone and application to modify the settings for one model (the Naze32/MultiWii/baseflight FPV spider quad).

Related note to readers on this thread: make changes to weight or the power system and you will need to change the PIDs. With a multi-sensor board (each with it's own PIDs which build upon each lower level sensor's configuration), you don't want to change the AUW or power system very often.

Re: Cc3d fc

Thanks for the help. I'll get my feet wet with this one (Turnigy Micro from HK) for now.

No, not at this time at least.

The best option for that right now would be NAZA. or you can look at multiwii based but the GPS and Bro are not as solid as NAZA right now IMHO but may be in some time.

Well it is still going to wonder, without GPS and barometer your always going to need to give some level of input to hold the height and position, but it should stay level. Inside can be tricky with the prop wash.

Re: Cc3d fc

Yes I heard that the latest 1.5 update was good. His was also doing some extra bouncing when touching down and I think his gain is too high. Pretty sure he doesn't have it in auto level. Even in the gym it was wandering around in height and heading much like a helicopter. Can't wait to get mine going.

Re: Cc3d fc

The KK2 with the 1.4 or 1.5 is very stable in auto level mode. Even in manual mode it shouldn't be that sensitive, possibly they just had the stick scaling settings very high for making it super responsive. It may be overpowered as well, 11" props is rather large for a 450 size frame.

Yes the autolevel can be set on a switch. But you can just fly in auto level mode, you still have full control over it, it just auto levels when you release the sticks to neutral position.

Re: Cc3d fc

Just getting in the quad copters thing and have a KK2 LCD controller on my quad that's coming in from HK. I flew someone"s quad in the gym yesterday with the same board on a 450 size aluminum frame, about eleven inch props etc.
I've never flown a quad before (just some heli stuff) but had no problem getting it in hover and managing to fly around a bit without cutting someone's head off He had it in manual mode.
My question is that it was a little squirrelly and took lots of minor inputs to hold it stable. How effective is it in auto? Also what can be added to this board to make it a really stable platform for photo work?
Last question-can you switch from manual mode to auto hold while in flight?
Thanks for help.

The quad support is mixed in there but since it is only in beta there isn't a lot of discussion on it so far.
What they really need is a good/cheap mag sensor so you know what direction you're facing

That is my biggest beef with the eagle tree on a multiroter.
