Re: Scammed? Greeekt

Come on guy's and Gal's....
gut feeling's and common sense...
If it sound's to good to be true, than it is....
We all want a good deal, that's what second hand is all about.
If your suspicious, just contact the other seller's/buyer's of the feedback from who your going to deal with...and than contact the one's before from them, you can go back a long time
If your local than arrange to meet.
Get a contact number, call it, than even look it up under many online databases to confirm it.
I've even asked for a physical address for cross country big buck ticket items, I've mailed an access code that they had to reply back with before I would send the funds via what ever means, and no not a P.O.Box lol
Use a 3rd party payment system where you are covered.
It seams we are only seeing this issue on EMT payments....
Common sense my friends....

BTW.. Happy Birthday Canada !!!!!!
Fly safe! Drive safe! Be Safe!

I have made over a Hundred transactions online and have never been scammed. I take precautions, deal with reputable sites and if it's to good to be true, good bye.

Re: Scammed? Greeekt

I too swore at one time to never be so stupid as to buy on line. Well, reality is the we live in a remote area with very little choice so I have made a number of on line purchases.

Only twice have I been less than happy with the results, once was a private deal and the used goods turned out to be a lot more used than advertised. The other was a large hobby store that had a very poor website and the item didn't have sufficient information in the description so I guessed. 50/50 chance it was the one I needed right?

Oh well!

We just finished buying a used car for the wife on line from another country. Risky? Oh ya! Shipping took about a month longer than expected but otherwise it turned out really well.

It's the future out here for us as every shopping trip involves a 4 hour minimum road trip with a pretty good chance that what we want will not be there.

This happenned to a friend of mine last year, ordering some stage lighting from a seller on the internet.

The seller told my friend to EMT him the money, and he would ship the lights. He would send my friend the tracking number, and once my friend got that, he would supply the seller with the password.

Worked great, the guy got his money, and a few days later, my friend received an empty box!!

Some guys in the world have no problem sleeping at night, even knowing that they are scum bags.

The only totally secure way is face to face, cash in hand.

For the OP of this thread, I hope you get some resolution to this, but even if you don't get any of your dough back, I hope the cops find the other jerk and give him a good scare.... Fricken Douche Bag!
Wow that's taking it far, shipping an empty box that's just a slap in the face on top of it.

Update - the case is still being worked on, the last word back from the police they were tracing the bank transaction (I provided written authorization to access my account). They should have found the account it was deposited into by now, its just a matter of tracking down the person who withdrew the cash. As for the dough, right now its a total loss. When they do find the guy I will have to take him to court to get my money back.

2 people from here have sent me some bucks to help fund a replacement radio (hoping to get it next week). Thank you, you know who you are!

Cheers
