Re: Where's the ignition module ?

Seems they're more concerned with heat getting TO the module, rather than heat FROM it. Inside the firewall would do that.

Re: Where's the ignition module ?

It would have been appropriate if you gave us that information earlier. Do what the instructions say.

Re: Where's the ignition module ?

Thanks for your info gents,I'd like to provide you with more details....
I'm new to gas engine application. This is a new OS GT22. My knowledge in this engine goes as far as the instructions provided with this engine. Reads as follows, "Install the ignition module at least 100mm. away from the engine and in a place where there is airflow so that engine exhaust heat and radiation heat do not affect it's operation".

My aim is to do what the manufacture suggests, However I'm seeking for the
knowledge of those modelers with the experience I'm lacking in this issue.

Thank you...

Re: Where's the ignition module ?

Actually it depends on the ignition. One of my 3W ignitions requires a hard mounting using rubber grommets for vibration control but also to keep a little bit of cooling space between the bottom of the ignition and the mounting surface. That said, an ignition is not like an esc (which requires a lot of cooling). I generally do as Mike suggested (wrap in padding and secure to the airframe). I do not worry about it being exposed to cooling airflow.

Nope doesn't ventilation. Make sure you padded it well, treat like you would treat receiver.

Where's the ignition module ?

I'm building a Sig 1/4 scale gas powered Clipped Wing Cub. If you're familiar
with this model you may have noticed that there's no room to install the ignition module forward of the firewall . The next best location would have to be above or below the nose ply base that the 3 formers are glued to. However,
It's my understanding that this module requires some sort of ventilation !!!!
Your suggestions please !
