1. If I build with the included retracts will it be relatively easy to switch to more scale landing gear later?
2. The BH rudder doesn't look really scale and loses that characteristic DeHavilland shape. Did you ever consider changing it to more scale or is the "unscale" rudder profile a concession to making a single rudder, tail-dragger twin model fly and ground handle well?

1. I cut the main strut and slipped the new gear on, simple...

2. The work was not on my list of 'would like to do' items. The thing is most models need larger tail feathers to make it stable. How many models have come to a bad end after people bashed the rudder/stabs and made it very difficult to fly....

Spring it is.

My 4240-750kv Aerodrives have arrived from HK and I have a 4000mah 4S waiting in the basement.

Bill,

that was an open field with a gravel road that is no longer open for flying

Re: My New BH Models Mosquito Twin-EP ARF w/Retracts

Update.

During last summer's heatwave one of my C35-36 1100kv motors burned out during a flight at the Warbirds over Burlington event . I managed to get her back to the edge of the runway for a rough landing...

I decided to replace the motors with what I had in stock at home and the winners were SK 42-40-750kv. With the lower kv the next flight was a real 'lingering' event. I struggled to get her home at full throttle on a 3 cell pack. That necessitated the use of a 4 cell pack and a bit of CG readjustment.

I also upgraded to e-retracts because one of the retracts was damaged during the rough landing.
She flew through the rest of the season without incident.

Bill, after all that work to get her and those great retract servos I got for you, you going to sell her?

Are you going to be at the field soon? If you are hold on to her and we can talk.. I wight be interested in a second one for different reasons than flying...

I also like your new version of the landing gear. It looks very scale and I can see it is more robust than the original.
Thanx Max. The gear is definitely better and helps reduce shock with the springs. I will let the photographer know he did a good job..

My current setup uses two turnigy C3548-900 motors with 11x7 two blade props. my weight is 6 lb 14 oz. Together, the two motors are drawing about 45 amps......475 watts. what are your numbers?

Thanks,
Dave
Dave,

I an flying 13x9 MA props. I don't know what my power consumption is i have to make an adapter for my EC5 connectors to fit the EC3 conns on the power meter, but my 3 cell, 4900 is down at 11.1 v when I land after 5 to 6 minutes of flying. I do not fly at full throttle but 2/3 to 3/4. I think my weight is around 6.5 or 7 lbs.

She flies well just remember to keep the throttle up specially in turns and on landing to avoid a tip stall or the tail dropping. If the speed gets to low she will start dropping her tail.
