Re: Bob Parkinson Barracuda GDF Yeah man, wish I could help you out but my instruction booklet is long gone. It really was a smooth flying plane and I really miss it. Mine lost radio contact, i think the battery disconnected, and it went straight into the ground at full speed. Had to dig earth away to find the engine and fan buried in the ground! Think my stab incidence was just flat with the bottom of the fuse if I remember correctly. And oh yeah, if you have built a scratch plane before, this will be no prob for you. After you are done, post some pics please ok? |

Re: Bob Parkinson Barracuda GDF Yup, everything was given to me. He built 1, and I hear he didn't have enough ground speed, so it went up....then down. Blew apart the front of the jet, and retracks ripped out the wings. He was taking off in grass, but only had 1" wheels, didn't get up speed. Previously, I have built a Great planes clipped wing cub, and 1/5 Waco Biplane from scratch. I Also rebuilt a Lazy Ace that had crashed by another flyer. All fly beautiful. The problem is, the build instructions refer to fig 13-29 which I only have up to 12. Such as adjust stabilizer incidence, bu no figure or mention on how much to do. Just seems like there should be more to the instructions....... Will keep at it though, plenty of people had them, and are very helpful. Much appreciated! Covert |

Re: Bob Parkinson Barracuda GDF I had one these years ago. It was an awesome flying plane really and was quite fast! I miss it actually and if I had the time I would build one again. Buy yeah, instructions are VERY vaque but the build is just common sense once you figure out those vaque instructions. Mine had glassed wings and monokote everything else. If idid it again, I'd just monokote everything or glass everything I think. Someone gave all that to you?? Nice! It's kind of a boxy looking jet but you can make it look pretty sweet. Strange I can't even find a pic of mine but I do have some somewhere. |

Re: Bob Parkinson Barracuda GDF Most (all?) of Bob Parkinson's kits covered only the basics of the models assembly. Most people building a jet kit, especially in the days when Parkinsons models were created, usually had 2 or 3 builds under their belt prior to attempting to build a jet. In those days ARF's were rare and everyone built their own RC trainer and intermediate prop-powered planes before they got into jets. It was expected that your previous skill in building would be enough to help you "fill in the blanks" Today's generation can start with ARF trainers, move up to intermediate flying ARF's and even advanced aircraft and never build a plane. Is this going to be your first model airplane build? |

Bob Parkinson Barracuda GDF Hi all, new to this site. A Club member gave me a Bob Parkinson Barracuda kit with engine, tractor fan, retracts, etc. Problem is, the instructions and plans leave a lot to the imagination. Any help in building...advice, pictures, etc is very welcomed. I understand there was a video available to aid in building. Haven't located one yet. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am in Buffalo, NY Thanks |
