canadiannascar I've read a lot of peeps have probs with that bearing, but my son has well over a hundred runs on his, mostly on a dirt track and it has never failed, good luck perhaps.
Agreed that the metal spacer or larger diameter bearing\housing is a plus.
Also the VXL system is great for the price and has been reliable for both our Slashes.

Sooo its important to crash and land upside down just to shake the debris out every once in a while lolol
we are going to keep them as a second vehicle and get either Durango's new weapon or the ofna bump edition
maybe thats why i dont have an issue, im always on my lid every couple of laps :P

Its such a * design that the bearing runs constantly in dirt and if it isnt packed with grease it still dies. I have acer oversize bearings in that mount and havent seized one yet but i pull the old clean and repack every 2 race nites.
Yes the flm center diff obv wont melt and maybe im wrong maybe they will go longer but based on what my friends have done (seizures) i keep maintaining...
maintainence is always key.

imported_mavrick0 The king headz mount with oversized helps a ton but the other thing is covering the opening for the driveshaft to stop the dirt from entering as well as if you have the old driveshaft cover replace it with the new design that covers the opening for the slipper nut.

The slash 4X4 is a maintenance hog though it needs very regular service or problems arise.
the main prob is the bearing on the center diff when it goes it takes the diff with it I pull mine every 2 race nites and GREASE it dont even think about oil..
pull out the seals and pack it FULL of grease to form a barrier to dirt...

kings headz motor mount and the FLM center diff takes care of that problem. Bigger bearing and metal contacting the bearing so when the bearing does seize, if it seizes, it doesnt pooch the diff casing.

imported_Crave According to Castle Creations, the 5700kv motor should not be used in a 4w shortcourse truck.

I have the Novak Ballistic 550 4.5 turn with the MMP.

However, when runing on 2S the MMP does not give enough juice to the receiver under heavy accleration or braking. This causes the throttle and steering to cut out, which is a real pain in the . If you accelerate slowly everything works fine.

I have read that the solution to this is to get the Castle Creations BEC unit. I have ordered this and am just waiting for it to come in (should be any day now). Apparently is a pretty small unit that you can fit inside the receiver box.

I'll let you know when I get it installed.
