I'm headed towards the cataract surgery and am dealing with blurry vision especially in my right eye. For quite a few years now I've been using Maui Jim sunglasses. I've managed to break a good number, my new puppy liked how one pair tasted. MJ has been outstanding in their customer support. They have either replaced parts, fixed frames or outright replaced glasses that I broke. My present pair are prescription ones that MJ put in the frame for me. While expensive they are well worth the cost (they fixed the puppy chew at the same time gratis).

I finally got out for more testing. I steadily removed weight until zero. Unfortunately this again made the glider difficult to fly, significant down elevator trim to get it to fly straight and level, unfortunately this made it difficult to land even with full flap deployed I stalled it on a low base leg and cracked the fuse. https://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/imag...milies/sad.gif Fixable but very annoying. 2oz in the nose was very nice with a slight pull out as per the diagram.
I did manage one flight in the afternoon thermals that lasted 45min or so with 3oz of weight. Circled the field with a bunch of Vultures ( they obviously knew something) My neck got sore and I deployed full flap and headed down.

I also have double cataract implants and after the operation my vision improved remarkable. Still wear glasses as it sharpens my distance vision. Flying is better now as I can see the Glider waaaaay out there. I just use cheap walmart sunglasses that 100% UV filtered.

Spent the day on my sailboat with these sunglasses and there are no issues with my eyes.

I really wouldn`t bother setting the Mystique up for Crow. Bring the flaps all the way down and you can descend at quite a steep angle without picking up alot of speed.

This glider is amazing product well worth the Money.

Eflite has a new large scale glider out, cost would be around $2000

Full flaps and point the nose down. Works great.

I believe it has ailerons and flaps, so you can just deflect both ailerons up or do Crow mixing with ailerons up and flaps down to kill the lift.

I dont see spoilers on this, or for that matter, on any gliders anymore.
Having crashed airplanes escaping lift twice this summer, I wonder what you guys
out there are doing ?

Re: EFlite Mystique 2.9 questions/comments

I recovered the bottom of the wing a nice Dark Blue Monokote. I also recovered the bottom of the horizontal stab yellow( because I thought it looked nice!) I added significant weight so that it balanced at 85mm from the forward wing and went flying. The blue was the ticket for the orientation problem (and the yellow was all but invisible against our smokey sky).
Dive tests proved that I had too much weight in nose as you suggested. While very neutral hands off flying, I removed 1/4 and re-did the test. The glider still pulled out of the dive on it's own however the pullout was not as hard. I would have removed another 1/4 but the wind really picked up (close to 15kts) so I flew a bit more and suspended further testing.

Re: EFlite Mystique 2.9 questions/comments

I built mine exactly to instructions and it is a great flying glider. This a great qaulity airplane worth every penny.

If you are having oreintation issues suck it up and get used to the machine. Anything you do to modify it will only make it worse.

Re: EFlite Mystique 2.9 questions/comments

I am sure you will have tons of fun with your Mystique but I would avoid any real high speed dives, flutter is an issue at high speeds.

Maybe you can meetup with Kevin, he needs more competitors in BC.
Have fun!!
