Which area in markham and what is old school racing?
I live 2 blocks south of Pinnacle hobbies.

Old skool racing is a follows:

- some people show up at a spot

- they gather up assorted things like rock, wood, bricks, what ever is around to cobble together some sort of a track.

- every one lines up their cars and some one yells go!

- every one drives there car until some one crashes. when some one crashed every one stops so that the person that crashed can turn their car around. they usually get teased by the other drivers for holding up the race.

- The race finishes when their battery dies or runs out of fuel

It is a simple, easy, fun format. You do not need top notch equipment. But you need simple rules like everyone uses a silver can and don't hack others. Most importantly run what you brung!

In the old days long before the internet I used this format and I could easily have 30 people show up on a week night. Lots more on the weekend. There is no yelling at the marshal unless you yell at your self, no pressure to win at any cost because no one paid to race. Just simple RC fun just like it is suppose to be.

Re: Looking for fellow RC'ers in Markham

Yeah, i'm around the markham/richmond hill area as well. i'm gonna be at the bayview hill community center this sunday morning @ 9am. the hall/atrium beside the pool has access to lots of empty rooms at that time until 10:30am, very clean, and there are clean washrooms and stuff.

I've been there with a buddy a couple of times to run our cars, and it's great. we are very careful and respectful to keep the place clean and quiet, and not to break anything (it's like we were never there, ninja mode). so if you guys want, you can join me this sunday, as i'll be bringing my ta05ifs (and maybe my trf415msx).

the floors are tile. not carpet. so, gotta make sure u got good grip tires on, and that they don't mark-up the floors; you can also run drift tires, i.e. pvc/abs tires, for drifting as those don't mark-up the floors (i think).
