Re: No outdoor tracks in the gta?

What we need is someone to donate a field or industrial unit (or even a corner in a golf/sports dome) so we could get a track running again. It's far too expensive to rent a unit these days... Can't some diehard racer win the lottery for us? Lol

Just getting back into it myself and dragging my boys with me so keep posting tracks!

Re: No outdoor tracks in the gta?

I wanna say I just bought my first 1/10 scale SCT and going to SIDS has exponentially increased my enjoyment.

I'm not sure what it was like before (although I've heard stories) but I can say that spending 8 hrs there feels like 2. The track is always mint. Mike IS a workhorse. The layout has been different last 3 times I went. The jumps are INSANE... the dirt is solid. Mikes a friendly guy to chat with as he fixes the track (and flips cars back over lol) and I feel great every time I go! Last time I even brought my wife and she had a blast while she read a book in the fresh air. I water the track when I can, and have helped with blowing dirt off the track. I wouldn't mind doing that again. I think if everyone did a little (without feeling like your forced to) this RC thing might stay in Sauga for quite a while. As a new racer, I feel I owe it the the new community.

As for 1/8th buggies at SIDS, I have seen it and its crazy how bad the track looked after a few laps. They were way too heavy for the course. The straightaway was a disaster when they were finally (nicely) told to leave ( by BlackRanger)

I will do my part in helping out me fellow 1/10 scale racers. Going to Sid's Raceway is a vacation for me. I will do whats necessary to keep it alive!

Thanks Mike. I got your back!

You see one of the best new things about Sid's is not just the jumps, or dirt, new features or the ever-changing layout. It's the new energy.... it's positive. The place is fun again. We're not gonna miss half a season because it rained 4 times. We're not staring at pile of soil, waiting for a university to tell us what kind of dirt we've got. I know it was a lot of work for the last Few guys, the "committee", they told us so, all the time. There were far more issues and complaints on the forum than tech talk or race announcements. A little negative for my liking, but by all means, overall, a "commendable" job.
Well here we are, a couple seasons later, 180 degrees and loving it. So instead of worrying about our club president's interests, priorities, or circumstance, I'm gonna focus on how much I can't wait for club race number 3. Saturday BABY!!
Cheers!!
and don't forget...... Don't hate, congratulate.
Very Nice. I agree Mike and Glen have done a great job.

I commend Michael and crew for what they have done with the place, job well done!

That being said, what does concern me is that once again the considerable effort involved in keeping the track open has fallen on the shoulders of only a few volunteers.

No matter how good people's intentions are, this is not a sustainable situation for the long term.

One thing in our lives that is constant is change: changes in interests, changes in responsibilities, changes in priorities, changes in personal (family, financial, health, etc.) circumstances.

Lets hope that when change comes for the current crew that there are new parties ready and willing to take over.

Wishing Sid's Raceway much success and longevity,

My bad for got Ian. you and Jim should come out for a race for old time. even if it was during the week for practice.
