Not necessarily. Now you've got 2 wings to break... My cub is brand new, 2 fuselages fully equiped with radio gear. Entire package incl transmitter is $200.Tiger Moth is attractive though. Ed

Radian?? Yeah, the Radian is a great beginner plane I think the guy wants a float plane, or an option to use floats.

Maybe somebody can put a radian on floats???(probably..)

For beginner plane with the options of making it a float plane/electric, I agree with Joe Gilbert.

Get the Hobbyzone Supercub. It flies great and has a floats option that you can buy. Basically we are talking abut something you bolt-on with no special modifications and you go fly off water.

Also, the HZ supercub can easily be modified to add ailerons, so now you have a full-house 4 channel plane that looks great, is easy to fly, and is float-capable

The E Flite Apprentice and the Hobbico NextStar are also good starter planes.
The lightweight cub is OK but can't handle windy conditions.
As a rule of thumb, the heavier aircraft will fly a bit faster but handle windy conditions much better.
In the long run you will be better off buying a decent transmitter like a DX6I that can be used later on for more advanced aircraft.
