Re: Foamydisc Mayhem

New Mega Mayhem just finished this weekend.

Flys just like its little brother but with a 36" span. About a pound flying weight.

The hover is more stable. I have flown it on 3 cell and 2 cell. I like the 2 cell better. It is smoother and quieter.

For those who keep bugging me for a landing gear - I designed one that can be put on or taken off in a couple of seconds. Yes it will be available for the original mayhem soon as well.

Re: Foamydisc Mayhem

I havent done any sloping this year yet. I just finished up a big glider (Grifter 3.2m span) I'll have it out at the Saugeen flyers fun fly on saturday.

Got the shipping confirmation this morning on my Phlatprinter kit so I should be up and cutting foam in a few weeks.

Re: Foamydisc Mayhem

Florin - Thank you for the nice comments.

Helno - How goes out yonder? Doing any sloping? My "new to me" van is way better on gas and a trip out your way is in order.

My CNC can cut about 48" x 32". If I was to slice the wing & tail arrangement just like the kit version of the Mayhem, I can make a 86" span foamy. That would be too big to get to the flying fields. Although with 1" thickness I could incorporate plug in wings.

I was actually thinking more about a 32" Mayhem. Gotta keep it simple! Well maybe with lights?

Re: Foamydisc Mayhem

I got the ARF. I was impressed by the quality of the ARF and how it flies: awesome.

Re: Foamydisc Mayhem

How big would you be able to scale it to and stay within your routers working area? perhaps a large one made of 1" thick foam with a 40 size electric on the front end, it would make a nice gag at a fun fly.

Re: Foamydisc Mayhem

Glad you like it. Did you buy the ARF or Kit?

All comments and suggestions are welcome. That is the only way I can make current and future designs better. One example is that the latest Mayhems now have longer wing doublers to decrease wing tip creasing.

I was evening thinking of a larger version, but how big?

Re: Foamydisc Mayhem

Website update.

I have added online ordering. There will only be one production run of Mayhems and Discs per month. These will be made to order. I am also only making the Frame, ARTF and BNF versions as they are the most popular.

The order cut off for June 4th shipping is May 14th. Already a bunch sold.

Love the review Chris!
