Re: Castle Creations: Pheonix Ice Lite 100amp

I actually had to delete the PC program and reinstall it and the update. Works like a charm now. Wierd because I just programmed the 120HV last week and it worked fine. There has been a software update so maybe that caused the problem.

Nonetheless it working now.

Thanks

Oh that is assuming you're still on the 100a. If you're using a castle ESC that has no bec, then that's the issue for sure. Needs an external power source for the ESC to be powered before being able to update it. Since it has no BEC, it's not powered by the USB.

If the BEC is burnt out, you may need to power the ESC with a lipo before the system will recognize it.

Wow was luck ever on my side. I hovered the heli in the shop then took it out for a light gentle spin. The only problem that came of it was a burn't out cell in one of my batteries.

PHEW!
Turns out I cant get the Castle link and the ESC to link. USB works but no power from the ESC. Maybe damage was done!

Re: Castle Creations: Pheonix Ice Lite 100amp

added a pic back there.

KDE got back to me. Patrick confirms because the shaft contacts only half the main gear that there is nothing to worry about. He also added that making the shaft 1/4" longer would just add weight and its not necessary. The pinion can handel it he assures!

Maybe he sells insurance with his products!

Take from it what you will.

Oh he also said they are comming out with a new motor with a shaft long enough for the Trex 600 pro. The one that has the upper bearing for the shaft. Ya and i could buy that and cut it down to fit.

Off to the field to test these theories!... When its nice out!

Ya no response from them yet. I'm sure they dont have a longer shaft for that motor anyway.

Ahh after re-reading I think I understand. Motor shaft is too short. Well okey dokey. Have fun dealing with KDE

Re: Castle Creations: Pheonix Ice Lite 100amp

The
Motor is made for a top mount setup not a bottom mount. There is a differance of 1/4".

I just wanted to build a crazy 3d machine.

Re: Castle Creations: Pheonix Ice Lite 100amp

I don't really get what the problem with the motor is based on your description, but I'll take your word there is one

Just one question.. 2300rpm? On a 600? You said you're a mild flier right? Why all the head speed? I'm a 3d guy, and I don't use that much.

Don't get me wrong, you're welcome to do what you want, it's your heli, and your hobby. That said you'll get a lot more flight time if you drop it down a few hundred RPMs. 2300 seems way overkill to me. jmho.
