Re: Bubbless tank Tettra ? how to fill ? No need for a pump with a tetra tank, you will just complicate matters, and with a tetra bubbless tank fueled correctly will eliminate dead sticks, that's the beauty of bubbless tanks. Talk to any pylon guy, they exsclusively only use bubbless tanks for that reason with all the vibration of the high rpm engines, causing air bubbles in the lines, which in turn is eliminated with those tanks. |

But it is an old arf. 46 size pattern type plane. Phoenix models comet af 629 Pretty high wing loading too..would like to avoid dead sticks if possible |

Re: Bubbless tank Tettra ? how to fill ? I have used Jett bubbless tanks on everything for years now and love them. Once you get used to the filling procedure you can't go wrong with these. You never have to worry about flame outs, unless of course you running lean, but I even use them in my profile 3D planes, makes for a very reliable flight every time. Cheers |

Re: Bubbless tank Tettra ? how to fill ? Thanks Brent. That's the article that got me concerned about the filling procedure Thanks Cliff . are you recommending to leave the vent open and off the muffler then ? Or perhaps I don't use the perry pump ? The webraspeed 50 has a slide carb on it. I have run these carbs on webraspeed 61s but not this motor yet. I understand they are thirsty and do want reasonably strong pressure. Do you think using a traditional fuel filler valve would help or be problematic in this application. Thanks again for the help |

Re: Bubbless tank Tettra ? how to fill ? This setup will cause excessive pressure to the carb and make it hard to adjust. Suck the tank dry with your pump, clamp the line from the tank, disconnect the line from the jug, prime the line from your pump with a few cranks, re-connect the line from the jug and fill the tank. When it is full the fuel will stop flowing. Reconnect the line to the perry pump. It might be a good idea to clamp the line to the perry pump while you are reconnecting it. Once you have done this, if you are careful and clamp the feed line every time you should not have a problem with air getting in. |

Bubbless tank Tettra ? how to fill ? I recently acquired an airplane that has an 8 ounce bubbless tettra tank bladder inside - no clunk ) it is set up with two lines. The plane has never been maidened so not sure if it is set up right. The vent line is hooked up for muffler pressure and the fuel line goes through a perry pump to a webraspeed 50. I understand these tanks are great as long as all air is removed prior to filling and they need to be filled very carefully. not sure how to fill and ensure absolutely no air enters the tank. Also how do you know when its completely full ? Also in understand that typically you would not use muffler pressure and a perry pump together but perhaps thats not the case with a tank like this ? I am assuming these tanks do need muffler pressure. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks ! |
