Re: 2016 Contest Schedule

Bill,

That's why I asked about Stetsons.

Trying to figure out a date for FT.

Re: 2016 Contest Schedule

I think Gary posted earlier in this thread (page 3) that they want to go with Aug 13-14 because of a conflict with a Giant Scale Event in Kingston the following weekend.

I am not sure why Ron has left them both up there on the NCFR site.

Jim - I need to work with you on FT dates so we get something up before Jan 5 and dates get opened up for new events. I will email you this week and get your thoughts.

Re: 2016 Contest Schedule

Gary,

I see two dates posted on the IMAC website for the Stetson's IMAC.

Do we know which one yet?

Re: 2016 Contest Schedule

Just wanted to post a message since some of you may have read the RD's Schedule Update on the NCFR section of the IMAC web site. Don't want anyone to get excited because several of our contests are not on the so-called "reserved dates" as per the Zone Director's criteria. Rest assured I am talking to Ron.

I fully understand why Woodstock and Ottawa are proposing the dates they have submitted due to other conflicts. At the end of the day it should all work out since I don't see that any other CD has a priority for the Woodstock dates, and the Cinci Burnit date in August is still TBD. Even if Will goes ahead with Aug 13-14 Cincinnati and Ottawa are well over 300 miles from each other.

I advised Ron that there was an error with his Hamilton FT dates in the schedule update and he has corrected it. The issue there is the potential proximity to the US Nats dates of July 5-8.

Ron is just trying to start with some reasonable criteria for scheduling and then work from there. What he is trying to do is communicate a protocol which should have been communicated several years ago. All that to say don't get excited, we will work this out.

Re: 2016 Contest Schedule

Gary - just a thought - we might want to start another thread on the Canadian Nats 2016 so you can get some input on the Thursday-Saturday suggestion. Just so you get some focused feedback.

I need to do some homework re 1 and 2 day scenarios. There are some rules re what is considered an official contest and you can certainly have a one day event but need to offer to all classes. I think there could be a problem with one day for Basic and 2 days for all other classes. Of course two days for all classes is the traditional event. It's the split one day for Basic and 2 days for the rest that may have some issues re rules.

That being said I am all for promoting IMAC and especially to encourage new blood to give it a try. We need to encourage a constant intake of new pilots to feed the other classes. Also IMAC may need to consider bending a few rules to be innovative etc.

Re: 2016 Contest Schedule

Hey Bill: No luck last night; I was tossed back in as events guy. Oh well.

So here's an off the wall question: what about Thursday-Saturday Nats?
Yes it's another day off work. It does reduce the weekend impact for the field by a day though. Just tossing it out there. How many would stay home because of this?

I am also intrigued by Brendan's idea of one day events for Basic (and maybe Sportsman?) running concurrent with the rest of the classes doing a full 2 days of competing. That's good out of the box thinking...

Hi Gary - I used to say "lead, follow, or get out of the way!"

It helps to be seriously nuts to lead the way. We will be standing by for further news !

Re: 2016 Contest Schedule

Hi Bill:
Yep, I know it is a 3 day event.
I'm just about to begin talks with our exec about this. We have had Nats here several times so we know it means shutting the field for effectively 4 days...and we are a bigger club, so that can be a problem. Especially with all the other events we run...we are nuts! Seriously nuts!
Standby for a reading on the idea... will take a week or three...club elections tonight, so maybe I'll get lucky and be voted out of Events!

The Swift Current club is kicking around the idea of having a mid-July event.

Re: 2016 Contest Schedule

Hi Gary - no one on the horizon so if you guys want to step up I am thinking that would be well received. Since we have had a void the last couple of years I am sure we would welcome anyone who wanted to take it on.

Not sure if you are aware that historically there have been 3 day Canadian Nats, Friday to Sunday, but I also think there are precedents for 2 day Nats. Sometimes hard for guys to get the time off etc. But we are certainly open to discussion if you folks want to propose something.
