Re: Hobby Topgun Mig 15 maiden flights! With the help of some 3D printed parts from Luis, Chris finished the Mig cannons!. Balsa inside for strength and plenty of filling and sanding finished them off. |

Re: Hobby Topgun Mig 15 maiden flights! We tried painting the rest of the models silver areas today and all was well until we switched to the second can of Rustoleum metallic paint. Turns out it was not the same silver as our first but was chrome. The chrome doesn't look as nice on the less than perfect surface of foam. The first can had a green label and the second had a mainly white label but we mistakenly assumed it was just newer style labelling. The caps looked like the same colour but no such luck! Since we know what Tamiya Silver leaf TS30 looks like, we quickly tracked down a few cans from local hobby shops that have curbside PU (Hobbyhobby and Great Hobbies). With any luck we can paint it soon. The only way to know if it is silver or chrome is to look for the bar code label on the back of the can. Chrome or silver will be written in print just above the bar code. |

Re: Hobby Topgun Mig 15 maiden flights! Chris put on two clear coats of minwax polycrylic in preparation for the silver. The tanks were painted today with two coats of Rustoleum silver Metallic spray paint. Nice fast drying paint. |
