Re: Picking a charger.

Hi just wanted to thank everyone that posted here for their help! I ordered my stuff today. I went with the charger that Max and 4*60 suggested and the Dr. Octopus fire hazard wire (yes Max I did get the 4mm connectors that I will try to solder but until then I got the octopus) Two Lipo packs (hard to figure out which to get) and a couple of adaptors. Tamiya to Traxxas and 4 inch Traxxas female that i will attempt to solder the 4mm bullet to and make a conversion wire for my ESC ( I don't want to attempt changing the battery plug yet). Oh and one of those fire proof bags for Lipos just in case. So now I guess I am at least current. Now I just have to figure out how to use it all!

Re: Picking a charger.

ok so I am going with the octopus. Just because it's easy and I will probably be adding another car to my collection. The octopus can charge my old Tamiya the 4mm bullet and my bro in laws Traxas all for $10.
I will still get that pack of 4mm bullets and a traxas female to make a short convertion adaptor to run between the battery and esc....sound good? No wait you said I could change all my batterys and ESC to the 4mm and only need one charging cord (If I can learn how to solder). I think I feel that anurisym coming on.

Re: Picking a charger.

Those do look like the ones on their batteries.

Yep. Actually I prefer to get my stuff directly from Hong Kong. Dont ask me why but shipping is less coming from Hong Kong than it is if it was shipped from the US.

I don't really want to change or make my own but my esc is traxas. So either I buy a battery with that type of fitting from a lot more money or get these connectors and learn how to solder....

You mean bullet connectors on the battery?

Just buy a pack of these. Because they are generic, (neither Male or Female bias but BOTH in one) you can use these on your charge leads, you can use it on your ESC, and you can convert other batteries to these connectors with just one of these packs from HK

(PS dont forget to buy banana plugs if you want to make your own charge leads)

As for do it yourself you can get JST type connectors from Hobby King but they sometimes have pins with no connection (which can be repaired) but the wire itself is rather stiff.

Since I make all my own packs I use FMA chargers. They also sell very nice connectors for balance leads with real good silicone covered wires.

There chargers are very accurate.

Good luck

Re: Picking a charger.

I have one of these and it is the best.
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._GENUINE_.html

It is dual power, charges Lipo, NimH, Nicad and even lead-acid.

For $40 it is good value.
As for the charge leads, you are better off just making your own using banana plugs and whatever charge lead you need. A lot less headache than those massive octopus

Re: Picking a charger.

That's probably fine. It is rated well and has higher wattage capacity charging.

If you have several smaller packs(I have 3S 1300-2200) then you may want 2 of the others to charge 2 packs at once at 1C rather than only 1 pack at a time. Depends on your needs.
