Re: 30% Dehavilland Tiger Moth

Hopefully no one gives a damn about my standards, they only apply to me! I hope you're happy with what you've done so far! For what it's worth, I think you're doing a fabulous job.

Re: 30% Dehavilland Tiger Moth

Took a bit of a break from some other projects, and framed up the tail feathers. Laser cut parts are excellent, superb fit. All in all, things went together very quickly, and resulting framework is very light and strong.

Hello Dave

The plans for the Tigermoth are by Gary Allen, there is a very good build thread on rcscalebuilder by guai he has built and flown the plane, with input by Gary of changes to the plan, it is under other designers about page 6. Will be following your build.

Cheers Don

Got my Haynes manual for the Tiger Moth, if you haven't seen them, they are great reference material, and really good reading as well. Great for any aviation enthusiast's collection!

Re: 30% Dehavilland Tiger Moth

Slowly starting to make a full kit for the Moth, cut the necessary strips for the stab, leading edge is four layers of 1/8th by 1/2, all ribs are 1/8th by 1/4, capped with the same dimensions. I've got bins with scrap balsa, so simple matter of opening the 1/8th bin, and cutting a pile of small strips for all the stab and elevator ribs. When I start a kit, first thing I'll do is to separate all the parts, bag and label them. I then take all the left over bits, and bin them, which, over several builds, yields an astonishing amount of parts!

Re: 30% Dehavilland Tiger Moth

I'm thinking you might be right. It would certainly help to clear out the workshop, craft room, and the spare bedroom upstairs. Could build a partition, so the kit boxes, and under construction planes are at one end, and the flying aircraft at the other. Or pup trailer for the kits/under construction, think I'll need the whole 53 feet. When I bought my current trailer, 17 feet, with 3 foot V-nose, I honestly thought I wouldn't fill it. WRONG!!!! lol

Dave...
From what I have seen on the RCC over the years, I do believe that IF you bought a Semi with a 53 foot trailer... in short order you would have it filled to capacity and be looking for a pup trailer...

IMHO

A link to the build article for the plane, 105 in span, 86 in fuse length. Hmm, I might need to get a bigger trailer, or really refine my airplane storage!
