Re: Smallest edf out there

So, that guy invented the fly-powered model, eh? Gee, if Walt Winberg were still alive, he would contest that claim! I remember Walt with fly-powered models in the late 60s...

Easy enough. Just capture a big blowfly on your living room window with a jar, throw him in the refrigerator while you cut out a paper model: the bigger the fly, the bigger the model. When the fly is barely moving, take a brushful of contact cement and dab it on his back, and on the front of the model, and join. As the fly warms up, away he goes... Walt cut out a B24 for a particularly large fly, and it flew away!

I would like to know what gear is necessary to get a GWS 30 fan to fly. Any hints?

Well i'm thinking on powering my chucky Concorde glider with a small edf, either a small twin set up or single 30mm set up. I built and used this Concorde chucky glider to figure out CG for the big model...worked really well.

You can get housings, fans, etc designed by "nitrocharged" from shapeways, down to 15mm fans I think:

Re: Smallest edf out there

AFAIK, one of the smallest EDF's on the market is the 28mm unit used in the brand new E-Flite UMX MiG 15 EDF:

http://www.horizonhobby.com/products...unit-EFLDF180M

It requires a 2S 200mAh lipo.

GWS makes 30mm EDF's as well:

http://www.gwsus.com/english/product...stem/edf30.htm

A 2S lipo is required.

I have seen smaller 15mm EDF's, but these were one off hand built models that aren't readily available. Google "The worlds smallest R/C jet" for more information.
