Re: Prop change formula?

thanks guys...I guess I'll try a couple of props while using my watt meter to ensure I don't over prop and burn up the ESC or the motor!

Re: Prop change formula?

I'm not aware of any formula. The suggestion David made is a general rule I have heard over the years for glow engines. The only thing different here would be that cell count will be a critical factor too. A hand full of props and your watt meter will be the best way to tell I'm thinking.

Try either one diameter smaller or one pitch smaller. Just approximation but watt-meter checked you will see for sure. Has worked for me fine with several planes and they fly just fine. I usually check static thrust with fish scale too.

Prop change formula?

I have an Maxford Antonov AN-2 which I will be putting together this winter!

The reviewer recommended prop is a four blade 10X6 , which reportedly over works the motor at anything over half throttle!

I will be using an Eflite 25, which recommends a 2 blade prop in the range of 11X8 to 14X7.

So, I want to re-prop the plane with a three blade....is there a simple conversion formula that will get me going in the right direction?

I will put a watt meter on when setting up the plane before maidening...!

Thanks in advance!
Gord
