Re: Newbie makes dumb purchase, what is it? T-maxx? thats a crazy video with the truck going through tv. i've seen people take bats and things to tv's and they wouldn't break, specially on old tv like that. the only sad thing is that the truck wasn't respected enough to not do that. good luck with it. |

Re: Newbie makes dumb purchase, what is it? T-maxx? Oh yeah, forgot to mention got a blister between my fingers from the pull start (engine has really good compression and takes a good tug to start) . Nearly jumped out of my shoes when I put some hand sanitizer on it at the kid's Meet the Teacher night tonight..frickin OWWWW. And wifey kept saying "What's that smell?" Good think she doesn't recognize nitro fuel residue smell..... Vince |

Re: Newbie makes dumb purchase, what is it? T-maxx? Well, here it is , the truck arrived today. Without the body, and I've contacted the seller about that. Not very well packed, the two remaining body posts were pushed through the top of the box, and one was snapped off. Dumbass. So the urge to fire it up was overwhelming, and I proceeded to find some batteries for the tx/rx. A quick look over, wipe down and inspection, a tug on the pullstart to verify engine has strong compression, and tried out the radio. Somebody had no idea what they were doing with this truck! BOTH servos were set up in reverse, the throttle was setup in the middle of the throw, sheesh. Reversing the steering servo was a simple push of the switch, but the throttle servo will need some work to setup properly. The steering servo (an XTM metal geared one) is SLOWWWW and will be the first to go. So I fueled it up 1/2 tank, sloshed it around to flush out the old oil residue, pulled the fuel lines and blew through the pressure line to forceflush fuel out of the feed line, then reconnected to the nipple (heh heh. you said nipple!) Connected the glow started, a few tugs on the pull start.. and nothing. (All the while holding the tx with throttle fully closed.. errr, open ?) . Pulled the pressure line and blew again, with carb feed connected to the nipple (heh heh) . and tried again. BRaapp..bleh. Tried again and again and again. Hmm. Got my heli starter box, connected the glow lead, good glow on meter, again, BRAAPppp, bleh. And again.. and again.. Finally got it tio start and idle! all the old oil was spilling out the exhaust , surely the wife will notice the greasy spot on the lawn beside the walkway.. Gave it some throttle (brake? err...??) Bleh. quit again. Took my little screwdriver and screwed out the carb needle, had a look and looks like new. Screwed it back in, then out 3 turns and tried again.. BRAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPP! Grab the tx and pull the throttle closed.. err.. open? . Sat there nicely idling. Gave it some throttle (brake?) bleh. So after giving up a dozen times, followed by immediately havin another go a dozen times, I got the throttle set to the point it wouldd idle, and speed up when I gave it some throttle (err. brake). Lets's just tear around the backyard a turn, I thought. Proceeded to burn up a full tank of fuel , all the while thinking squeeze for brake, push for throttle. Hit the kid's sandbox (man this thing turns slow, with a missing front driveshaft, poorly adjusted toe-in and a really slow steering servo, it just does NOT react. OK, maybe the throttle issue meant I thought I was slowing down too.. Looks like it flexed a bit and bent the front frame brace.. Then plowed through a big pile of grass clippings (probably shouldn't have been playing with nitro truck and raking instead...) Even went straight over a hedge (actually a former flower garden, a bit grown up). Time to get it in the shop and have a real good go over. Found a lot of stuff I will need listed on e-Bay. And probably will add a Spektrum radio, and decent servos.. And waiting to hear from the seller where te hell the body is.. But at least the motor seems to run strong, likely isn't even broken in yet. I think I'll keep it and have some fun.. |

I also bought a Kyosho Burns 4WD from a local Kijiji ad for 60 bucks, kinda cool but also obsolete. Vintage , about 20 -25years old. Vince |

Re: Newbie makes dumb purchase, what is it? T-maxx? I would suggest getting rid of the AM radio with a nitro truck, or at the very least get a fail safe for it. |

Shipping turned out to be $67 , I can usually make or adapt something else if needed. Most of the truck looks pretty simple. I don't abuse my gear too much so hopefully it will last a while. Vince |

Re: Newbie makes dumb purchase, what is it? T-maxx? I dunno, if shipping seems reasonable it may not be so bad. Judging by this video it may be fairly tough..... |

Re: Newbie makes dumb purchase, what is it? T-maxx? You could try to contact the seller and try to get him to allow you to withdraw from the deal. http://answercenter.ebay.com/questio...#msg1001235736 |
