Re: RC NO FLY ZONE JUNE 26-28 for GTA G20

I reread it and I got it now, yes maac is volunteer org but event like this should have been spelled out a little better, it does not take much to publish map, dates and clubs affected, half a page on the website, not door mail delivery, I was very specific on that.
people fight here over maac , legalities, insurance and every little thing.
I would have thought something like this would got more attention then it got. Yes I am a maac member and will join a club again this year after 25 year break. If I can find one I like. There are many people out there who belong to maac to be able to fly on fun flies, but have no intention of ever joining a club. Those you cannot reach by notifying clubs only, but it should have been on the website in some detail.

Dan, that's why there are people on RCC who keep tabs on this sort of thing and pass the information along. The NOTAM for the Vancouver Olympics is a case in point -- the membership saw the NOTAM, started discussing it and then passed it on to MAAC for action.

Remember that MAAC is a volunteer non-profit organization which means that decisions have been made on how extensive and immediate would information appear. If you want immediate, absolutely accurate and direct-to-your-mailbox notification, you must be willing to pay the level of membership dues that would finance this.

Direct communication to clubs is probably the best way of dessiminating the news since clubs and club members form the majority of MAAC's membership. This gives a pyramid form of communication -- very effective and with a minimal number of questions coming back that need to be responded to (tiem and effort of people). This is a classic communication form that is used world-wide within companies and many organizations like churches.

If you're not a club member, where are you flying?

Yes that's right. Checked the documentation and we are clear. If the documentation changes tomorrow, then we'll have to shut down

hey Bob,

So what you are saying is, you are in business this weekend with no restrictions in Ajax / Pickering area.

Dan

The answer is in the other threads;

There is no RC in the inner circle; it's explicitely stated in the doc

There is no RC restriction in the outer circle, it mentions only full size aircraft.

Unless that changes, that's what we're going by at our club.

Re: RC NO FLY ZONE JUNE 26-28 for GTA G20

Sorry I cross posted this on 2 threads to get a correct answer.
Well I looked at it yesterday, it may not be rocket science, but the paper has 2 circles on it , the inner ring and outer , and it said no fly for RC in both of these starting Thursday to Sunday night. I checked the, as usually "useless", MAAC site, that has 2 RCMP updates with conflicting dates and that clubs have been notified. Well I fly in that space but not in a club, I am a member of MAAC and I expect them to notify all membership, on the website, not individually, of this kind of event and restrictions and not just say clubs have been notified!
So which is it thurday to sunday on outer circle of the official map or saturday and sunday only? Inner or outer circle?
