Meet Josef "Pip's" Priller.....

Pilot bust from HK, and body was made by carving blue foam to fit the bust and the cockpit...

Re: Top Flight FW190 ARF

The brains of the Robart electric retracts are made by down and locked and use load rather than position to stop the screwjack and that was the cause of my issue.
The load sensor didn't stop the screwjack on retraction and over torqued causing it to bend the jack screw, and jammed the gear up. After a few laps of the field, when I flipped the gear down, the left gear hung up
Air systems require a little more maintainance but have worked well for me so I ordered the cyl's and valves to go air

Re: Top Flight FW190 ARF

Did you find the issue with the electric retracts? I've been forever disappointed with air, so as much as possible use eflite electrics, and for the past 3 years, 100% success with them, from 10-15 sized, all the way up to 1/5th. I've got a few future build plans, and was relying on going with the Robart Electrics. So any info on them is greatly appreciated. Congrats on the flights, FW-190s are great. The old gold edition FW-190 D-9 is one of my all time faves, working on a Dave Platt A-8 now.

Re: Top Flight FW190 ARF

so...in review....Top Flight FW190 Giant Scale ARF....good or bad???

Hits and misses...............

seems to be put together pretty good, firewall is marked out for a couple engine choices, the hardware is good quality, robart gear fits nicely into the wheel wells, gear doors were a good fit, radio install was strait forward and easy, and seems to fly quite nice
nice big hatch forward of the canopy is great for access to the guts...and keeps switches, fuel and air ports hidden away
Wing joining was easy and stress free...lined up and fit good...

The spinner is included and looks pretty scale, but the scale "fan" that fits into the cowl front is made from plastic so thin it wont support it's own weight, I can only imagine what a 50cc gasser vibration would do to it (yep, left that off too)

ok the electric retracts suck but that's not top flight's fault...but....

I realllly don't like monokote it looked like a rasin after sitting in the warm sun for 1/2 an hour...
the cowl ring was not pre installed (not hard to do, but thought at this level of ARF that should be pre-made)
Top Flight though it would be good to include the cockpit with the plane....and that's great...it saves being disappointed later...because it's really cheesy! (I refused to install it, watch this space for cockpit developments in the future)...

but all in all it's a winner...fun to fly, easy to build, and lands nice with that wide track landing gear.... 4 stars outa 5 from me... (monokote and the cockpit keep it from getting 5 stars)

if your thinking of buying one, its worth the $ but get the air retracts and avoid the electrics...and have a blast chasing the tommy's in their spits!
