Re: Windrider 737 with CS 70mm 12 blade fans

Managed to make one flight today before the crosswind got too strong.
Here is the CG I am flying with now. In the future I plan to try further aft.
The sharpie points to the CG. Top view shows location of our HRB 6S 6000mah pack.

You guys continue to set the highest of standards with foam models. Amazing work! Thanks for the detailed build review and flight report. I always learn something new that I can apply to my builds. You must have a big shop or storage area in your home

Cheers Marty

Re: Windrider 737 with CS 70mm 12 blade fans

I have begun moving my battery further back on the last number of flights and find the plane flies better moving the CG aft from my earlier posted location. The landings are easier to grease on with less of a heavy feeling when cutting power. My large 8k mah pack wasn't performing well with one weak cell so all my flights are now using my HRB 6000 6S packs located a couple inches aft of where the 8k pack was shown earlier. The plane still needs a fair bit of up trim but not as much as before.

I was able to see 4stripe's 737 finished scheme today and it looks amazing! It easily passes for fibreglass. Then there is the way it flies in his hands....... Here take a look for yourself

We have been working on and off for 3 winters but now it is complete. Flies as good as it looks!
Flew it quite a bit recently without its final graphics but today was “all dressed”.
Special thanks to Callie Graphics for our custom order.

Made a number of flights since updating the ESC’s to use the brake function and they are working perfectly using reversing function on every landing. Very effective compared to my other models with reversing fans. Having fans in short nacelles is much better than anything with longer ducting (for reverse).
Tried using our 6000mah packs today (flying with one per flight) and balance was easy to achieve with the pack pushed about 4” more forward than our 8000mah pack. A 4 minute flight pulled 3567mah on a pretty energetic routine (Some aerobatics mixed in with circuits).
Really a fun machine to fly! Super sound from those twin FMS fans.
