Re: Top Flite P-51 Giant All, Just to let you know that I'm doing a major upgrade to a TF Giant ARC P-51, a three year project that's almost complete: - converted the "D" model to a "B/C" using a fiberglass add-on by Leo Spychalla - aftermaket cowl for a 5.5" spinner using another fiberglass add-on by Leo Spychalla - scale exhaust manifolds by Tony Howard (not functional) - ZDZ 80 RV-J (engine had to be slightly canted to fit an exhaust) - custom Bisson in-cowl exhaust (completely hidden except for two exhaust stacks that come out the bottom about 0.75") - Aerotech wheels and inner/outer gear doors - Masters cockpit kit by Dynamic Balsa - Aeroloft markings of "Reggie's Reply", a P-51B piloted by John Godfrey, a Canadian who flew with the USAAF - wing structural upgrades for the landing gear as recommended on RC Universe - strengthened firewall - fiberglassed, then painted with PPG, then weathered - high powered JR digital servos on the flight controls - it should move nicely with a 24x14 prop Should be done in a few months. Thought you guys may be interested. JD |

Re: Top Flite P-51 Giant If anyone is interested in a Keleo custom exhaust for the TF Giant Mustang let me know via PM. Its built for a DL50 but I'm pretty sure it would work for the DA-50R as well. http://www.keleo-creations.com/index...5a07b0c1c2d0c8 |

Re: Top Flite P-51 Giant Hi Alex ........ Ca Va Bien ( Im flying again , winters over ) Wow ........... Thanks for all the kind words , I can tell you this . A lot of people have helped me in this site and in other sites as well . They love to share their ideas and so do I . I happy that you found a forgoten passtime . At the present time , beleive it or not I m on at least two builds and one asembly . That would be a TopFlite P-51 Giant build , a TopFlite P-47 Giant build ( which is totaly awsome , check out the thread ) and soon I will be on a TopFlite P-51 Giant ARF asembly . The P-51 will be ready next year and the P-47 will be ready for end of summer or early fall Sierras are three time Robart and a small price more , well worth it . If you have ordered from Keleo , he does fantastic work . You may wait for youre creation , but its well worth it . I don t think anything turns me on more than seeing a WarBird doing combat manuvers in the air , to me they look so gracefull , and to fly a WarBird Llike a Warbird , takes practice . Again thankyou for youre kind words , it makes me feel warm , thanks All the best Michel |

Re: Top Flite P-51 Giant Michel, Comment Ca Va? My hat's off to you, and congrats on a wonderful project, immaculate, and thanks for sharing all the pointers with us. I was going through a very emotional stage with the hobby. I am moving to a small condo, and found myself with all the warbird kits that had been collecting dust in the basement. With no space to put them, I offered them for sale in the For Sale column. Luckily, the only kit got sold was the Yellow Spitfire, to a very good friend of mine, but I am still left with a Ziroli P40, a F6F Hellcat, and most importantly, a TF Mustang. After reading your built threads, the fire has been re-lit, and the exhaust system was ordered this afternoon, I have already the Sierra retracts (always love Darryl's product, and have four sets of his retracts for various models. All my kits are now stored at the local U-Store, and will start building again once I have things sorted out. Thank you for the motvation, and looking forward to seeing your finished porduct, and its maiden flight. Take care, Alex |

Re: Top Flite P-51 Giant Are you planning on Robart retracts ? If you are I would suggest you get the alumin. replacement blocks for them from Sierra Landing gear. The Robarts will not withstand any side loads especially on asphalt. You can scuff up a nice spinner and wing tips very quickly. As me how I know. I had one of these with a Brison 2.4 in it. It was plenty of power, a DA 50 whill be quite something. |

Re: Top Flite P-51 Giant Hi Everyone Well I went and done , I went and did something that I never thought that I would do . To me its almost a sin , I bought an ARF . Since my Mustang P-51Giant will not be ready this summer , and I wanted to see my DA-50r with the keleco exhaust system , in service , I had only two choices , Pay another summer of glow fuel ( $500 ), or go with my DA . I chose to go with the DA . have a look Michel |
