Re: Mid air crash

Buddy was fllying his PZ P-51, and I had my homemade depron version, chasing each other of course dog fighting.
I came up from what I thought was behind him a bit, but it was actually directly under him and forward a bit. Huge WHACK.....! His prop sliced my canopy, and made 5 slices all the way down my fuselage right to the tail, cut my antenna wire, and down mine went. Remarkably he kept his going and landed it without a scratch with both of us laughing ourselves silly. I felt terrible though, his cost $200, mine was only about $5 worth of foam.

Good news was that his was fine, and mine was repaired with hot glue and clear packing tape, good to fly again!

But the mid air was spectacular!

Re: Mid air crash

Sorry about your Yak. These things happen from time to time. The mustang does not look to bad. It doesnt look like it was damaged in the midair(looks like the wingtip clipped the yak) so I guess the nose broke away on impact with the ground

Re: Mid air crash

I had a similar mid-air earlier this month. I was flying a Sig something extra and tried to occupy the same piece of sky as another club members foam plane.

My right wing disintegrated and i lost all control when I cut the throttle. the impact with the ground caused far more damage that the other plane did.

The Mustang will glue up like new......sorry about the Yak. I tore up my Mustang last night flying a tad low down the strip. Tried getting below a foot at full throttle but failed. I'll try again as soon as the epoxy cures.
