Re: Stetson IMAC

Thank you to everyone who attended, special thanks to those who travelled from out of town: Mike, Juan Carlos and Juan Jr, Denis, Rob, Bob, Neil, Eric, Glen... and their families.

Thanks for the Stetsons Flyers for being awesome hosts. A couple names to name: Dan (leader of the crew and music man), Gary (Wednesday night aerobats), Roy and Sue (Scorekeepers extraordinaires!) Hal (Safety officer), Andy (registration) and the canteen gang! Ken, Goose and Hal were the photographers.

Thanks also to the intermediate class, you judged a LOT and your willingness to take it on was key to keeping this contest running and on track.

Thanks to Great Hobbies (gift cards for the contest and 100cc plane draw for Basic/Sportsman pilots this year) and Smart-Fly (discount coupons for the contest).

* * *

So when all was said and done, we had: 8 Basics (including four first-time competitors), 3 Sportsman, 7 Intermediate and 5 Unlimited. There were 11 entries in the Freestyle which must have been a first! Ray organized two rounds of Freestyle at noon time each day and there is a definite resurgence in interest and planning in that event this year. In the Freestyle scores you'll see a few 'missing flight scores' flags, that's because we had 3 judges the first day and 4 the second, I will check with IMAC but I don't think it's a big issue as the totals added up correctly and these points don't go towards regional championships.

We had a pretty good time socializing at D&S BBQ on Saturday night, some of us were not able to finish our plates... Kevin...

A couple of clipboards were not returned to their owners. If you are missing your clipboard, please email or PM Ray or myself and we will make sure the situation is rectified.

The scores are up on http://www.scaleaerobaticscanada.com/ and are being submitted to IMAC for the regional championships today.

See you soon everyone!

That kind of lost. I thought Joe meant the crash kind. At least there's some salvage after most crashes but not after a fly away. If it doesn't rain over the next day or 2 it might be worth tracking down someone with an FPV set up or fly a video camera around the area you think it's in. Based on what I see from my key chain camera you'd need something that fly slowly.

Yep, lost radio contact this time. First time I have ever had an issue with radio connection since I started flying. I was pulling through the top of the figure 9 in the known sequence on my last pass of the day when it snapped out and went a bit nuts. Neutralized the sticks and dropped the throttle and nothing happened.

Lost is the right word, too. Without a full-scale or FPV flying over, I'm not sure it will ever get found. Genevieve hiked in with me on Saturday and we didn't spot it and then I went back in this morning with the gps on my phone and hiked a fair distance. The bush is so thick in there that I'm almost positive it is still in the upper canopy. You can't even see 20 feet in any direction in there. Even looking up. Hopefully someone will stumble across it while searching for other planes. Apparently there are now 4 in there.

Just showing the spirit of the IMAC group, Dave Rees offered up his 100cc MXS-R plane for me to fly, Joe Smith offered me his 50cc Slick as well, and Ray B offered me a 33% airframe! Normand also gave me his Smart-Fly coupon from the event to help me out! I very much appreciate the offers and because of this I'll be able to fly the nats this year! Honestly, it almost makes me tear up!

Aside from the that unfortunate incident I thoroughly enjoyed the contest. Judging Unlimited was a bit nerve-wracking but it was fun too. Good learning experience for sure! Always great to hang out with all our IMAC buds!
